We all expect a 2nd line of Vanek-Roy-Stafford/new guy. What's wrong with a 3rd line of Kennedy-Ennis-Grier? Putting Ennis on the 1st line makes an all small, no board work line. Putting Hecht down on 3rd line LW makes Kennedy the 3rd C, and last season proved he's better at LW. Anyway, I think the best combo is...

Hecht-Connolly-Pominville
Vanek-Roy-new guy/Stafford
Kennedy-Ennis-Grier
McCormick-Gaustad-Kaleta

That could work, but where do you put Gerbe...AHL or trade him away? If Gerbe has to spend another season in the AHL, he might explode

Gerbe's not ready to start, but he would be the 13th or 14th forward and still get playing time after others slump or get injured.

Zherdev guy can be a lazy pos at times but I have faith in him, I hope we land him.

Zherdev used to play on Rick Nash's line, didn't he? When I think about it, Roy's 80ish points a year and Vanek's 40ish goals a year would be the most prolific line Zherdev has ever been a part of...if he signs. I'm not saying Nash ain't shit cuz he's clearly talented, but the two wingers never had a center worth shit in Columbus while Zherdev was still there.

I am not positive if he played with Nash but 60 points in CBJ is impressive nonetheless. Working with our team I think would really benefit him, he has never worked with the kind of fast and agile players we have so his production should increase and he should feel more comfortable skating around more.

The guy was put in the lineup to replace that bum Stafford in the playoffs. How can you say he's not ready to start? I would rather give Gerbe a shot who at least gave an effort and has drive rather than have a guy who's been in the league for alittle while and hasn't improve at all and seemed to take a step back.

If the Sabres sign Zherdev, it means Stafford will be removed, so your thoughts on Gerbe v Stafford are moot.

I would like to see what Gerbe can do this season as this could be his make a break year. He improved last year and I don't mind seeing him in the lineup rather than a guy who doesn't put forth a 100% effort.

I would like to see Stafford moved but the only problem is his trade value is probably at it's lowest point right now after being put in the press box to have Gerbe play in your spot. It's not a knock on Gerbe but more about Stafford's drive and effort he put's in game and game out.

Burke's only blunder so far is the Kessell deal which I really don't think was that bad. Did he know he was going to finish as bad as he did. No not really he wanted a player that was up and coming and Kessell's one of those guys. He just overpaid this time which he usually doesn't do that much. But sometimes you have to if that's the guy you want.

Uh no, that is a typical Burke move. Every team he's managed, he's flushed away prospects and picks for the here and now. He did it in Vancouver, he did it in Anaheim, and now he's doing it in Toronto. This is how he operates.

SBF, I'm not putting Stafford over Gerbe, never did. Unless you want to switch Gerbe to RW, where he's never played before, there is no use comparing the two. Besides, you should know I've been calling to trade Stafford and get another top six RW since the season ended. You're just trying to pick a fight since I've been slamming you lately.

Actually you can think what you want about me and no I'm not trying to pick a fight with you. I will agree with you 100% Stafford needs to be moved.

Yes he's traded away prospects and picks for the here and now but hey he won the Cup in Anaheim and the guy's he's gone after were Pronger and the Sedin Twins. He's a proactive GM that is very good at it and he will put Toronto in contention but it will be a few years away. When Burke decided he was leaving Anaheim I wanted him in Buffalo in the worst way. People can say or think what they want about the guy but he's a Great GM.

I would love to sign Zherdev. I'd give him 3-3.5 a year, definitely.
