Me too. But know that we will be getting a guy who gets a lot of scoring chances but doesn't cash in on as many as he should. Hes got nearly 100 goals on 1,000 shots.

It stems from TSN.

There have also been reports that he is in negotiations with the Buffalo Sabres.

At 4M a year, it would have to be a 1-2 year deal to make it viable for both parties, 4M is a lot of perogi's for a guy that ran to the KHL after holding out.

Maybe give him 2 years at 4 million per? I wouldn't give him a really long term deal because his work ethic is a big question. Perhaps he realized playing in Russia isn't all it's cracked up to be though and he wants to play in the NHL.

It comes from deeper than TSN, actually...in a conversation with Mytishchi Atlant's PR staff, apparently Zherdev himself told his old team his agent was in talks with a couple of teams in the Northeast Division. When sources dug up that it was the Leafs and Sabres, Zherdev's agent refused to comment on the reports about negotiating with the Sabres after the Leafs reports were 100% debunked. There's been reports he's been pursued by the Bruins, too, but it seems the loudest noise is coming from Buffalo.

A one-year, $4M deal would be perfecto.

Because his work ethic is a known liability, and players with questionable work ethics always perform better in contract years. He gets a one-year deal for his asking price, and he knows he's got a chance to earn a big pay-day during next summer so he plays his ass off, possibly to career highs. Makes perfect sense.

Yeah, that would be the best scenario for the Sabres. But two years at 3m each would work better for me.

He mad 3.2M last year in KHL and didn't really have much pressure on him. So I highly doubt he takes less to play NHL hockey

He's only going to take less than $4M if it's a long-term deal. I don't want the Sabres to sign him to anything longer than one year, so I don't see him making less than $4M.

I'd sign him also, if you remember I did make a thread about him asking what some thought about him coming here.

Back then I didn't like the idea, but since then I'd thought about it and changed my mind. I'm glad I did or I'd be raging about it right now

Yea, I'm glad you're in agreement with me now. When he is on his game and playing he is a dangerous player.

I wouldn't mind him on our team still.

Well in that case 1 year 4 million sounds just fine. That would complete a rather scary collection of forwards, in my opinion. I just hope that Coach Ruff uses more of the grittier guys on scoring lines at even strength, and spreads the snipers throughout 3 lines instead of 2.

At the very least the signing of Zherdev could wake up Stafford.

A Zherdev signing would signal the end of Stafford's time here, IMO.

I'd love to have Zherdev here for a year or two, that would be sweet.
