yeah, that i knew. i just found out kampfer had a fractured neck. so, you can see my anger in the sabres signing this player. but players mistakes, and if he comes back as a model citizen, i can and will forgive and forget. but, that speaks VOLUMES about him, IMO.

So this guy for the Wolverines had a broken neck from this???

No he had a fractured neck and head from the assault he suffered that caused him to miss 16 games. But the fact that someone was swinging a hockey stick like a baseball bat at his throat is a fucking dangerous thing.

no, he had just returned from a skull/neck fracture. he was assaulted.. sadly, by a michigan wrestler and michigan football player. he was literally picked up, and body slammed on his head. reports are he had someone else had matching t-shirts on, and they became the target.

It could have been worse. He could have tried curb-stomping him ala Chris Simon.

Chris Simon never curb-stomped anyone, jesus. He stepped on Jarkko Ruutu's LEG.

it could have, and thankfully it wasnt worse.

and maybe phils right, maybe im more outraged because of the rivalry. but id like to think not.

at any rate, tropps good, and if he can avoid this sort of thuggery in the future, he has a chance at being an NHL player.

1) Simon never curb-stomped anyone

2) No, Mike, you aren't blinded by the rivalry - what Tropp did was surely fucked-up. Few things are worse in hockey than a two-hander aimed at a specific body part.

Sorry, I over-exaggerated. He still purposely stepped on someones leg with skate blades. Not the sharpest things in the world, but still pretty damn hurtful.

Also, Simon pretty much did the same things as Tropp did, only he hit the guy in the face.

I'm not disputing that, I'm disputing that you said curb-stomp. You know what a curb-stomping is? Ever see one in person? I have and it's FUCKED. UP. And it kinda scarred me, so I don't like when people make light or exaggerate about it.

now some scary news.

While Nikolai Zherdev may well be on the path to a return to the NHL, it will not be with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

While various internet reports stated that the enigmatic Russian sniper has been in discussion to resume his NHL career in Toronto, TSN has learned that the Maple Leafs have no interest in the 25-year old who spent last season with Atlant Mytischi of the Kontinental Hockey League.

There have also been reports that he is in negotiations with the Buffalo Sabres.

According to Atlant's Russian website, Zherdev is looking for a multi-year deal worth a reported $4 million per season.

The Kiev native was originally selected fourth overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets. He last played in the NHL in the 2008-09 season where he racked up 23 goals and 35 assists in 82 games with the New York Rangers.

In 52 games last season with Atlant, Zherdev had 13 goals and 26 assists.

unless your Boychuck playing hack-a-vanek in the play-offs... than it's just 2 minuets for hooking....

And a bunch of Boston fans wondering where the diving penalty was for Vanek (saw Boston boards, they REALLY expected there to be a diving penalty)...

well maybe another 2 minuets for riding...lol... but i don't think that one is in the rules yet... and of course the step that cut the leg, but im sure that was just an accident, that just happened to be on the hottest player on the ice at the time.... no big deal...
