Cool, I know my house is around 1,000 square feet, so a half acre wouldn't be that much bigger than our lot including house and yard.

Even more mind-blowing, that's everyone in the world living a space equivalent to Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, leaving the rest of the continental United States unpopulated.

Can we put the Tokyo hipsters in Tulsa just for entertainment purposes?

What about the soccer moms and their never-seen-mud-before SUVs in the Badlands?

Tokyo is one pretty fucking crazy place. I always knew about the sleeping-drawers and stuff like that, but I'm reading this book Tokyo Vice, and learning much more about Japan. For example did you know that you can go get pretty much any sexual act bar vaginal intercourse performed on you legally in a variety of sex-clubs/massage parlours, but it's illegal to own a pornographic magazine?

Only if it's live-action. The rapid proliferation of hentai came about due to the strange rules governing porn, like how you can show pornographic videos as long as the penetration itself is censored.

You know, on the whole 'overpopulation' tip...the sheer number of people on the planet, and the need to feed them all is the only really valid reason (besides your own health) to not eat meat. Did you know it takes roughly 16 pounds of grain to grow one pound of beef? That is grain that could be feeding millions of people, but hey, we have to have a mcdonalds at every corner.
And no, i'm not a vegetarian, but I do try and eat many meals sans meat, and am at least conscious of the deeper cost of that fucking delicious hamburger I sometimes eat (although never from mcdonalds, that shit is nasty.)

We produce enough food to feed all our people and our domesticated animals.

Sometimes there are delivery problems, war lords and fucked up governments, but we don't have starving people because we feed our cattle instead.

Amen brother. Just be prepared to hear the cries of: "it's not me!" and "you can't take away my freedom to live the way I choose!".

Wish I didn't as much meat as I do, and even that at one meal a day 4-5 times a week is lower than many Americans.

I'm not a huge meat eater aside from Turkey and Chicken Wings, I even went a few months in college without eating any meat. I'm a big fan of salads and toast, and eggs.

Again...no one is going hungry because we feed cattle.

Go ahead and argue cattle are destroying the rainforest and you have a legitimate case.

I'm a proud carnivore who eats meat whenever it's available, but I'm torn on the issue. The gluttony of developed nations and the sheer amount of food we (meaning developed nations, not just the United States) consume could easily be re-distributed to lesser-fortunate countries. But then the increased cost of fueling and logistics comes in to play, and the resources consumed there in. Then there's the cost of human life added in, when factoring about humanitarian efforts to unfriendly regions.

My unpopular-as-fuck theory is each man only fertilizes one woman once and each woman is only allowed to give birth to one child. Continue this until the population of the Earth has whittled back to 2 billion. Obvious caveats will be a stillborn baby, death of a child, etc which would allow for another baby to be born. From there, each coupling could produce two offspring to maintain the easily sustainable population of 2 billion. How would it be enforced, regulated? That's beyond me as a dude with an idea that'll never be accepted cuz I'll just get called a fascist by assholes.

...and in societies that favor one gender over another you'll throw off the natural balance when people take eugenics into their own hands.

Yeah man it would suck to be a young guy in China. I had enough trouble trying to get laid here.

Of course it kinda goes without saying it would suck much to be a young girl and get thrown in the river. Man, what kind of person am I that my first thought is about getting laid and my second about infanticide?

You're a male who's past puberty. Of course you thought about procreation first.
