I honestly hope so. Someone this greedy will not win the Stanley Cup and doesn't deserve to do so.

He won't go to Russia. As reported by his mom (wtf), he's quoted as saying "Ask people about Gagarin Cup, and no one knows what it is. Everybody knows about Stanley Cup."

He's not goin to Russia.

He's not goin to Russia.

So if he won't take less money to play on a potential contender for years to come, where does he go?

To the surface of the fucking sun for all I care, I just want him to shut up.

For real, at this point there are only two teams that don't fuck themselves in the ass if they were to sign him - the Islanders and Colorado.

Unfortunately, he wouldn't agree to the sum of money NASA offered to send him to the sun.

Also Justin Pogge signed a two-way deal with the Canes. Match made in bullshit.

I've seen Pogge play in person a few times when the Marlies played the Crunch, and all he really is is big.

When he's been giving NHL time it's resulted in major crapshoot which overall resulted in him going nowhere but back down to the minors. I remember the sabres rocking him once or twice themselves :)

2008-2009 Maple Leafs GP 7 W/L 1- 4 SV% .844 GAA 4.35

Mikko Koivu has signed a seven year contract extension with the Minnesota Wild. No terms available yet. Mikko will earn have a cap hit of $6.75M a year every year and has an NTC.

in fairness, thats not a fair slice to judge him by. i think he has good fundamentals, and if given a chance, he could be solid. its worth a shot, i think.

Well hopefully he gets another chance. His stats have been a lot better while playing in the minors so he'll definitely need to prove he's improved since his last NHL action

The kid's career SV% is juuust above .900 (.902, to be precise), and that's since junior. You yourself (Mike) always say SV% is a better indicator instead of goals against, and he's only had a .910 or better once in the last five years, in 09/10. That number is skewed by a hot streak of four games at the end of the last AHL season when he had a .928 SV%.

What were his SV% numbers before last season? 06/07 - .896, 07/08 - .908, 08/09 - .869, 09/10 - .916

That's not solid, that's shit.

(Just for kicks, his career GAA is 2.70)

oh, im aware. but i just think he has promise. seems to square himself well, good post to post, comes out well, good technique. maybe thats all he has, but i think theres plenty of untapped talent there. im not sure.

i do believe it would be a solid project. have him sign a two way deal, have him back up enroth in the AHL, thats a pretty good safety net, ya know?

if and buts though.

Why did the wild do that?? 7 year contract for M. Koivu and he's getting 6.75 year or there about makes me wonder why this team has not been very good the last few years.

Actually, that's only his cap hit. I'm giving this contract its own thread cuz it's that fucking retarded.
