Instead of sitting on my hands and waiting, I figured I'd bump this thread and remind you all of this:

Fuck Kovalchuk.

Kovalchuk is not worth 10 mill a year. Fuck, I'd give him nothing over 8 mill.

If I were Darcy, I'd offer him a 3 year deal at $10 mil a season. Try and bank a cup or two outta his time here, and not be locked in to a deal with him forever. But, we all know the Isles will probably drop 10 years $100 million on him and he'll be stuck in hockey purgatory for the rest of his career......

He's been offered $10M per already, but he's demanding that it be no less than 10 years.

He wouldn't take 3.

Spoke to my one NHL source.

He says that the front runner for Kovi is LA. They aren't disagreeing about length or price; only what happens with payment should there be another lockout.

Yea, Helene Elliot from the LA Times reported that last week. What he wants is a low salary with high guaranteed bonuses the year after the CBA ends so if there's a lockout, he still gets paid.

Kovalchuk's agent tweeted earlier that he's really choosing today. Not some reporter or talking head, his agent. If it happens this week will be madness.

The New Jersey Devils announce Kovy re-signs with team. So much for paying Zach Parise.

New Jersey narrowly avoided an utter catastrophe from that deadline deal to acquire him. Imagine losing two good players, a top prospect, 1st and 2nd rd picks for a rental that got you knocked out of the 1st rd. Considering the cap weight he'll be, NJ is still probably screwed.

Now watch New Jersey viewed as a front runner, only to miss the playoffs.

They do every year anyways.

We should have offered him 3 years at 11.88 million AKA league max.
