sometimes kaleta leaves his feet. sometimes he takes more then 3 steps. sometimes he hits when he sees numbers. sometimes he gets an elbow up. its the nature of the game for someone who has bloodlust for anyone in an opposing jersey and wants to hit him hard.

maybe he doesnt take baseball swings to someones face, or he doesnt go knee on knee. but hes sometimes dirty. and dirty is dirty no matter what jersey you wear. and if he were in any other jersey but a sabres jersey, we would all detest him and call for his head on a spear.

I like some dirty players. I LOVE Ovechkin. I like Boogard. I like Avery (BOMBS AWAY).

For some reason I hate Carcillo... he seems like my kind of guy, but eh... I think it's his mustache.

As Matt from The 700 Level wrote, a controversial hit from Kaleta, a player with a reputation, and an end result of Ross leaving the game injured has typically added up to a suspension from the NHL. Buffalo hosts Carolina tomorrow night so any decision would have to be made rather quickly.

I think a lot of people outside of the 716 area code feel that Kaleta is a dirty player.

I've stated my case many times here. He is a dirty player, and irony is dead on. In another jersey, most of his biggest fans here would hate him.

A dirty player INTENDS to INJURE. Neil, Ruutu, those kinds of guys.

But, you say people would hate him if he was on another team, but like I said I like Avery, Ovechkin, and Boogard. Kaleta is going to have a few controversial hits, but that's the risk you take when you decide to play the role of the hitter on the team. He isn't "dirty". He has a borderline hit from time to time but the word dirty should be saved for the scum of the league.

look, these guys are professional athletes. i dont think they go into a hit thinking "man, i hope i break his arm!"

almost every hit has the same mindframe: im going to hit him hard, so he will think twice the next time he has the puck. and maybe hell rush a play and make a bad decision.

on occasion, a player might have the opportunity to line up an opponent that they hate, and yeah, they may want to send a big message. but really, i think the number of players running around with hate and malice running through their bodies that indicate intent to injure is extremely rare.

While I agree with this, I still think Neil intends to injure. :x

A mustache either makes or breaks a player for me.

Carcillo's mustache makes him look like a mangy motherfucker and he plays just like that.

Ian White, on the other hand, was THE MAN when he had that mustache with the Maple Laughs, but since he shaved it he has fallen off my favorite players list for some reason. Its probably just because I don't see his games in Calgary, but I'm totally blaming the mustache's sudden disappearance lol.

Yes Patty is dirty.
But what is dirty hockey? To me its blatant elbows, knee on knee's, blatant hit from behinds. Everything else is just hockey imo.

People who call players dirty just because they don't like them irritates the shit out of me. I hate Sean Avery but he's not dirty. Besides, Ovechkin is the dirtiest player in the game today...no doubt about it.

Thank you.

I would argue that you're not the authority on mind reading. You're welcomes to interpret what you see however you choose, of course. But it's not up to you to decide if a player is planning to hurt somebody for days on end.

It's my belief that they are pretty much all guilty by association. Because the more you hit, the greater the odds that one or more of your hits will appear dirty if in fact it isn't intended to be.

So if you really want to get technical, the TRULY dirty players are the ones who have the highest percentage of dirty hits. And my guess, is that would make Colby Armstrong is the dirtiest player in hockey.

Here's a great write-up on Kaleta from the Montreal blog "Behind The Net". Kaleta is a favorite topic of theirs of late, as they've been analyzing his production like crazy.

Fair analysis. I think he can add some more goals to the board, too.

The second goal disagrees with you.

Honestly, I almost shit myself after seeing him snipe Lunds like that.
