Not sure I get what you're driving at, are you saying that there are other leaks, BP knows this, and is doing this pressure test knowing it will fail, and then they can blame the 'new' leaks as being caused by the pressure test?

I'm saying they could be doing the pressure test as a scapegoat for a separate problem they already know exists.

Ok, thats what I thought you were saying.

Has BP released the results of the pressure test? Man, the thought of multiple leaks just seeping up through the seafloor is fucked, how would that ever be plugged?

They're saying the pressure is holding in a gray area...neither good nor bad.
Luckily not bad enough for them to reopen the valves.

If there are other leaks, the only way to stop them would be to continuously collect the oil from the well to release the pressure. That could take decades (because this reserve is just that big).

This seep is why I was an advocate for using the cap to direct the flow of oil into a ship where it can be collected...I'm okay with whatever needs to be done to prevent oil spilling, and it seems pretty obvious that the pressure needs to be relieved.
