WGN Radio in Chicago is reporting that the Blackhawks have signed Turco to $1.75M and will be announcing it tomorrow morning. No word yet on if this means they're walking from Niemi, but that is what was previously speculated.

Personally, if I'm Stan Bowman, I waive Huet to make room to sign both Niemi AND Turco and then call up some AHL kids to fill the holes in the forward ranks.

To hell with calling up AHL kids. Waiving Huet opens up $5.625M in space, bringing the Blackhawks down to $5.2M under the cap. If they sign Niemi to $2.75M and Turco to $1.75M, that leaves $1.7M left to work with.

If I were Stan Bowman, I would offer Bill Guerin two years at $1M per to play with the champs and offer Chelios $500K for one year for a chance to retire in his hometown as 6th d-man. It's not an ideal situation, but it's serviceable enough and unless they manage to get rid of Soupy, it might be the best they can manage.
