it's bizarro day in Sabreland...
I get in my car to drive home all miffed about Kennedy and I get home to this signing out of left field.

I like Morrisonn, for the right price though.

He made 1.975 mil last season, so I'll guess about 2.1 mil each season (only since Buffalo has to over pay every UFA).

Here's what we've got right now

Buffalo: Myers, Rivet, Montador, Leopold, Butler, Sekera, Morrison

Portland: Weber, Gragnani, Brennan, Persson (Haha, right)

Unless they're expecting Rivet to be out for more that a couple months, somebody will be walking the plank here. This was supposed to be Weber's chance to make the club full time, unless they're planning on using him as the 7th d-man/press box after Rivet gets back, to "ease him into" the system...

2 Yrs at $? Anyone have the 411 on how much coin? Gatta say I like this signing for sure. Solid stay at home D-man, blocks shots and seems tough as nails. I'd imagine of them 423 PIM's, he can toss some knuckles as well.

It was announced Rivet is expected to start the season.

Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent defenseman Shaone (pronounced SHAWN) Morrisonn on a two-year contract.

Morrisonn (12/23/1982, 6’4”, 217 lbs., shoots left) has spent the last five seasons with Washington. The 27-year-old was consistently among Washington’s leaders in hits and blocked shots throughout his career, including 163 hits and 104 blocks last season. In 418 career games with Washington and Boston, Morrisonn has 70 points (10+60), 423 PIMs and is a plus-36.

A native of Vancouver, BC, Morrisonn was originally drafted in the first round (19th overall) by Boston in the 2001 Entry Draft. He was traded to Washington in March 2004 in the deal that sent Sergei Gonchar to the Bruins. Morrisonn played his junior hockey with the WHL’s Kamloops Blazers.

This is a solid signing, I like it. I have some more confidence in our D corps now at least. I just hope Kennedy wasn't waived for ONLY this signing.

Darcy's got a deal in the works. The events of this day don't make any sense if he doesn't.

sounds about right, I don't think there's any way he makes more than Sutton, and I would also not be surprised to learn that the Sabres were trying to sign Sutton.

I like the signing. Feels like a new Jay McKee-type. The only thing is, he plays the exact same game as Weber, so I don't expect Mikey up with the Sabres this season.

He's good, we need a shot blocker but I am still pretty pissed off about Kennedy. Darcy better make a fucking blockbuster deal today or tomorrow

Kennedy yeah... This isn't good enough. It's good though. Kudos Darcy.

You guys are too worked up over Kennedy, the kid is a penalty machine, and only scored 26 points last year, forwards like that are a dime a dozen, we could put Kassian up here tomorrow and he'd probably take just as many stupid penalties and score around 38 points his rookie season.

Your avatar is blasphemous! Raising the Cup in a Sabres jersey is not allowed UNTIL it happens!

and now JC can never win it.
