Isn't there a press conference tomorrow around noon, or are they just not commenting until then?

If there is a PC, why would there be one for a release?

I think you guys are thinking the wrong Coast...and damn it; I hate saying this, but I really foresee a trade with a team like Boston, or NY Rangers.

Rangers have expressed interest in dropping Redden into the Minors, or buying him out completely; in which case, they'd need inexpensive defensive help (Sekera or Butler) and they are very heavy at forward, especially up the middle. Drury, Boyle, Christensen, Dubinski and Anisimov 5 centers, and excluding Boyle, nobody really plays well at any other position (I say Boyle, because he doesn't play well anywhere)

They also have a few kids in Hartford looking to make a move.

So I'm wondering if we are making a play at something like Butler & another defensive man from last year, for Dubinski, and prospect.

In which case I'd be totally ok with that, and we thin out the defensive ranks a bit, but not losing any key players. This would all of course involve either a trade of Redden, or his banishment to the minors.

Also, Boston is over cap, and defensively heavy, but may want to rid themselves of a Marc Savard, or David Krejci...in which case we have less expensive alternatives at forward, (Stafford, Roy, and Gerbe) that could provide them with the appropriate amount of Cap relief in a 2 for 3 deal or something along those lines. Giving the Sabres the shake up they were looking for, and providing fair value on each side.

Just kinda what I thought when I saw the waiver, plus the Morrison signing.

I'm not sure why Roy's line is #2 lol

I want to say Darcy is making room for when he has to extend Myers and possibly Ennis. But that is 2 years away and Kennedy's award was for 1 year...IDK

Actually, Myers can be extended as early as 7/1/2011. Ennis, however, has to wait until 7/1/2012.

I would much prefer Kassian making the team and taking Griers place. Grier is decent offensively but he is getting slower by the hour and I think Kassian would be a better offensive fit on the 3rd line. This would require Gerbe staying in Portland and McCormick riding pine but with the way injuries work throughout the year....I would love the lineup of

1: Vanek-Roy-Hemsky
2: Ennis-Connolly-Pominville
3: Hecht-Niedermayer-Kassian
4: Grier-Gaustad-Kaleta
McCormick (insert for injury)

Those 3rd and 4th lines would be hell to play against for opposing teams and I really think Kassian is ready to play on this team and would do a world of good for both the intensity of the team and their perception around the league. I can imagine a scenario of Kaleta and Kassian being centered by Goose once in awhile for a quick pick me up. That line would be crazy fun to watch run around killing people for 45 seconds a whack.

I'm just gonna throw this out as a possibility. Maybe management thinks Luke Adam can step in and be a more effective player than Kennedy.

Its just my opinion. I'm sure hellfire would have reigned down on me as well if at this time last year I said Myers would not only make the team, but

1. Finish with 11 Goals and 48 points
2. Be a PP, PK and even strength minute eater
3. Finish the season as our best D-Man and obvious future #1
4. Win the Calder

But that happened. Not in any way saying it will happen with Kassian, but there are so many people on here willing to just write the kid off because he's 19 and unproven (and most other prospects/rookies for the same reason). CLEARLY that doesn't matter if the skill and drive are there and Kassian has both of those qualities in bunches. If this team is looking to get bigger and nastier, it need look no further than their first pick in the '09 Draft, the same reason they took this kid in the first place.

He's not signed and Darcy shows no indication toward making it happen in the near future. Kassian, unless he's the second coming of Cam Neely, is not making the Buffalo Sabres this year. It's an unrealistic idea.

Couldn't agree more their is no way in hell Kassian makes the sabres. I don't even see them signing him until after another year of junior.

I'm just wondering where your "no way in hell" assessment comes from. Yeah, they broke off talks to teach the kid a lesson. He played a year in Juniors after his draft year and has proven nearly to the point Myers did last year that his talent is wasted - and at risk noetheless - by another year in Juniors.

Lets say hypothetically they team thinks he's matured, learned from his mistakes and is ready......And he's offered an ELC before camp. How do you justify claiming him making this team is so absurd? He plays a position we DESPERATELY lack in depth, plays a style of hockey no other player on this roster with his skill set does, and will do so for about 850,000 not to mention to jettisoning of TK opens a wing spot on the third line, Kassians most likely best fit in his first year.

Yeah, it might not happen, but for you to dismiss it as some blind fantasy is a joke

Even if Kassian signs his ELC, the only way there's a roster opening is if Stafford is moved because - Pominville costs too much, Grier has an NTC, and Kaleta is too valuable. So Stafford has to go for Kassian to have a shot.

Lets face it Kassian is big, strong and willing to hit and fight but lets not forget one thing the guy still needs to improve his skating and his skill level. That's why another year of junior would do him good and it would be interesting to see if he can earn a spot on Team Canada's junior team.

could it be as simple as Ennis moving up... Stafford moving down... Kennedy moving out? I don't like it, but could it be that basic?
