Why would Darcy do that? I'm about to cry...Tim was just sitting there... he didn't see it coming... but wham bam right in the clam!

Because at the end of the day its a business.....and when you start letting personal feelings get in the way of a business, your're setting yourself up for failure. Im HOPING Darcy see's this as the best move for the team overall and made it accordingly. If there really is some background BS about being angry at TK for going to arbitration or some truth to him being mad because of something that was said during arbitration, Darcy is a gaping cervix and needs to be disposed of.

The only way I see this as a good move if they have someone else in mind and I'm not talking Morrison coming in. This has bad management of the whole situation written all of it. Come on it's not like Kennedy's salary was breaking the bank. Should be interesting to see what the 3 stooges have planned if anything.

Thats what makes me think there HAS to be some other reason for this. Darcy never makes this type of move. Let alonge doing it to a cheap, developing player the team drafted, which has been his fall back plan for years. You're right about something smelling fishy here and it seems to indicate some sort of significant deal in the next 24-48 hours

Let's just see what his reasoning is tomorrow. It will be a long time for me, I am thinking about drinking some Blue Light and Tylenol.

Kennedy quotes from TBN:
Quote:
"It hurts," Kennedy said. "This is not what I envisioned for the last month of the summer before the season started. It's tough. I hope this isn't the end, but it doesn't look too good right now. You grow up watching this team your whole life. I don't even know what to say right now because I'm so shocked."

Quote:
"I'm kind of just nervously awaiting a call of any kind," Kennedy said. "This is not the start to the week that I thought I would have. ... In the short time I've played with the team and been in the league, I've learned that it's all business."

Quote:
"I expected maybe them telling me that because of the award the arbitrator gave me that more would be expected of me. I did not expect that," Kennedy said. "I wish I could tell you more, but I really don't know what to say right now. It totally blindsided me."

Quote:
"I keep trying to tell myself that this whole thing is real, and it's not just some rumor, but that it's actually happening," Kennedy said. "I'm having a hard time grasping that fact right now."

Holy shit, I feel for Kennedy right now.

I feel for the kid as well. If they waived him because the signing of Morrison or they didn't like what he was awarded was then this is fucked up especially with all the cap space still available. At least give the kid another year and see how much he improves it's not like 1 million was breaking the bank.

What sucks about this is I don't feel this was Darcy's call, but the PR spin of the organization would have his ass in a can if he divulged who was really behind it. So, unless Darcy announces signing Bobby Ryan or James Neal to an offer sheet or trading for David Backes, he's going to get hate from all sides even though I don't think it's his bad.

You know what's crazy Danny Briere was just in town a couple of weeks ago for Jerry Bruckheimer's bad boys of hockey and I talked to him about missing him being in the Sabres organization. I asked him how he felt about playing in Buffalo and said he liked playing in Buffalo. I asked him about what he thought about the teams management and he was pretty speechless and didn't really say anything about it but you could probably read his mind saying the organization is fucked up!

There has to be more to the story, I just really can't see why they would waive him/buy him out like this.

well my only thought... Ennis moves up.... Stafford moves down... Kennedy moves out... don't like it, but how else can it make any sense?

I might cry after reading Timmy's statements. He just sounds totally crushed. Poor kid. I'm going to support him wherever he goes.

I really wish they would've kept him. His missing teeth and feisty play made him one of my favorites.

I feel bad for him.

Yea, I read that when I woke up. Now I'm not feeling so sympathetic toward the kid.

I'm not saying the Sabres are wrong for doing this.

But this is the type of stuff that makes free agents dislike the organization.

I still feel for the kid.

He made $635k last year. He got a $365k raise in arbitration, which is peanuts in this league. THAT's why they decided to do this?

This line makes me nuts too.

Quote:
As far as the difference between the Sabres last contract offer and the actual 1 million dollar salary that was awarded, we are told it is a lot less than the buyout amount which is just over 333 thousand dollars.

It's more and more looking like they're trying to send a message to players not to go to arbitration on them, and I think that's complete bullshit.

Even still, if this is only about money it's a bad move. The same article says the difference between their last contract offer and the 1 mil award is a lot less than the 333k buyout amount. I would guess the last contract offer before arbitration was about 850k, maybe 900k.

That means Buffalo is choosing to pay 333k over two years for nothing instead of paying an extra 100-200k (1 mil total of course) for having a player.

From Kennedy's point of view, I wouldn't risk being waived over the difference between a 700k original qualifying offer and the 900k he wanted. From Buffalo's point of view, I wouldn't waive him over that difference either. This whole thing just seems stooopid from every angle.

So if he went unclaimed, if I'm not mistaken, Buffalo can keep him for 1 mil but now with the ability to move him back to Portland. If they want him back on the roster he'll have to clear waivers again.

The Sabres offered 800K. Kennedy's camp said we'll settle for 835K. The Sabres said no and had to swallow Kennedy's award of 1M.

Fucking bush league.
