Not exactly a stellar track record in the 1st round. Who's to say Darcy would have taken Eberle or MP-S? And Vanek would have made the Oilers better, or not as bad at least. They could have built the team around him, rather than Penner. I don't think we'd have the likes of Hall, Eberle, and Pääjärvi-Svensson in the system if we didn't match...

This is about his first round track record. Vanek is the only proven quantity, Myers is poised to be as well, and Ennis shows the best promise. Honestly, the 2008 first round may go down as Darcy Regier's best.

Yes, Darcy has found some gems in the later rounds. He has drafted very well. But his 1st rounders, not so much. Vanek was obviously a good pick, and you could make an argument for Stafford. Nobody else on that list really stands out at all save for maybe Kieth Ballard.

All I'm saying is that the draft is uncertain, and Darcy may not have taken the same players that the Oilers did.So it's stupid to assume that he would...
