i believe the observation deck closed down.

build up! make the city pretty from afar as well as close. i would imagine a simple 20 story building would do wonders.

HSBC moving from Main St to the Cobblestone would also give Canalside a pre-installed 5,000+ customer base of workers from the new building plus the already in-place Atrium building. It would also help the Cobblestone district flourish, helping Buffalo get its Granville Island/Bricktown/Arena District.

As long as the city can convert 3/8 to 1/3 of the tower into residential and find tenants to move in at a quick pace, I'm more than eager to see what good HSBC moving down Main could do.

This was published at just after noon on TBN's site, which preceded the link that SinDC posted.

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

Can't find tenants if people can't find jobs dude. You can argue that Canalside would be creating jobs, but those jobs aren't going to pay what it'll cost to live in that building.

One of the options that HSBC wants is to stay in the tower, but build a new building and move some other operations to that. I wouldn't have a problem with that.

I just don't want any more of these projects that simply take an existing business and see them move to a new building, leaving another empty vacant shell.

That's why I'd only be ok with this if they city immediately converted part of the tower to residential. I've always been aware of the secondary smaller tower plan, which is still my first choice.

Meh, I'm still not totally on board with that. Those Elk terminal lofts are nice, but they don't make sense. Rent on them is between double to triple what my mortgage payment is, and it's not like I have some shit hole of a property.

That's what I'm saying... high-end condos and lofts are nice, when there's an economy to support it. Most people with jobs that could afford to live there already own property.

In order to get people to move in, they'd have to have a job that paid for it, and there's nothing in Buffalo that's hiring at that level. At least not in IT.

It would require a lot of infrastructure changes to support that.

Because Sports Authority is full of retards who can't pronounce "Yzerman" and there are already three (maybe four) Dick's in the region (commence with the jokes).

Acknowledged and duly noted, sir.
