Where did you find those numbers? I know it was around that amount, but don't recall finding anything definite.

Anyway, if those numbers are accurate it's as bush league as it gets. The cost of arbitration, the hassle and everything isn't worth 35k, let alone the risk of a stupid arbitration decision - which they got.

HATERS ALERT: James Mirtle had tweeted them before putting them into his piece for the Globe and Mail. Put your hater hard-ons away for a moment, because Mirtle is one of the most-trustworthy young hockey reports in the continent.

i was trying to make sense of what regier was saying in the press conference about saving money by buying out kennedy, and i was thinking that he would have saved more money had he waived Stafford, who is looking to be a 1st round bust. Kennedy wasn't great but when he moved back to left winger his production went up. Plus i hate to use the potential word but there is more with him seeing as stafford has had more seasons in the NHL. I know that would short us at RW, but McCormick is technically a RW/C, and kaleta is an RW. not the ideal guys to put with Roy and vanek, but it is widely known the sabres prefer the cheaper option. I would play ennis over kennedy if we vote at all on the WGR web poll. I am just trying to make sense of things. I don't know how much it would cost to buy out stafford but i think the savings may be greater in the overal. But science has always been my forte not math, and who knows why, maybe the fucked up regent's system i went through where you got two weeks algebra, two weeks geometry, instead of the one year of each. Probably why calculus was my best math as i spent a whole year doing it.

Well it looks like math wasn't the only thing this person's school fucked up. This is almost unreadable. English teachers everywhere are crying. ;) 8-)

I really don't think you need algebra or geometry to figure out salary contracts. Simple addition and subtraction will do. If the Sabres waived Staff and bought him out, they would have more added to their cap situation. Kennedy was a victim of dollars

There aint one, because Regier said "650k 2-way deal" not 800k 1-way.

And not to rekindle anything but the 1-way contract was-in my opinion-the deal breaker. Going into arbitration mgmt likely thought, "If we he gets 700k we will keep him because it would be less than 350k to buy him out later when things change." But a million made it much more affordable to buy him out immediately because of the rules.

Even if there wasn't a self imposed cap (which there apparently is) I think that the Sabres are focusing their interest on getting bigger and not just playing big.

Yea, he offered him $605K on a two way deal. And then right before the hearing, he offered him $800K as his last offer. It's common knowledge at this point.

And of course the one way deal was the deal breaker - Darcy himself admitted as muhc.

Oh. He didn't say anything about the 800k during his presser, not that I recall. Oh wait yeah I remember a reporter calling him out on that. Oh well, regardless of the amount it's like you said the 1-way was the deal breaker. At least I got that right!!
