the leafs have an aggressive GM who will right that ship. i firmly believe the sabres/leafs/bruins are the class of the division for the future, and it will be a three headed monster for several years. i think the leafs will contend for a playoff spot this year if they move kaberle for a forward.

Oh sweet Buddha no frickin way that happens. They could be in the playoff picture for about 50 games next season, maybe. But no way on Earth do they get in, I'll bet anybody any amount of money right now, and yes I fully realize that they are going to make more moves.

Whats funnier is that Boston fans think they have one of the most lethal offenses when they were one of the lowest scoring teams that made the playoffs.

Weren't you saying the Leafs would make the playoffs last year also Mike?

Not to hate on you, but they may have one of the best defenses, maybe, and a good goalie now, but is Kessel going to score over 100 goals by himself then, to really make that team get over that hump this year?

This year they won't make the playoffs again, but they will return soon enough.

no, i said they were picked to finish second. they have a very solid defense, and now they have decent goaltending. if they get some wingers in place of some of their many defensemen, they could challenge. after the neon dion deal, they became a much better team, and i expect them to carry that on to this season.

and i said theyd CHALLENGE this season. learn to read, people.

I say they'll finish anywhere from 9th to 12th in the East this season. Defense only gets you so far over 82 games..

I forgot that they upgraded their defense, they definitely got better in net. Even still, Giguerre? I dunno man he's not had great numbers for a couple of years now.

I think their offense (or lack thereof) will be the big issue this season. Kessel's good for 60-70 points if he's healthy, but outside of him, nobody else on that roster seems like a real threat. I don't see them scoring enough to win 40+ games...

They are kind of like the Sabres, but a bit better D and a bit less of offense. But, our goaltending KNOCKS THEIRS SO FUCKING FAR OUT. FALCON PUNCH BITCH.

I'm not sure about that; we were 12th in GF I believe, while the Leafs were second-last or something, and they haven't really upgraded...

1. Boston - I actually really like what they have on d
2. Buffalo - yeah they did lose 2 big guys on d but with a ROY how can you go wrong ;)
3. Montreal - Average at best but still much better than Senafags and the Make me Laughs
5. Ottawa - Giving Gonchar that dumb ass contract to a guy who is burnt is well stupid
5. Toronto - 28 million dollars and they all suck and they are all extremely overrated

I agree they will challenge but only if Dion can lead the broken d

Meh. Boston has Chara. That's it. They play the trap a lot, so it makes their guys overrated.

I like how they have Seidenberg and Boychuck, that why I rated them 1. Honestly though, I find the Northeast to be one of the weaker divisions in terms of defense and putting this list together was rather hard.

Yeah I agree, their forwards and goal tending are total crap by comparison and their D isn't much better either. Myers is better then anybody on their blue line, and like I said before they got too many top 4 guys. That actually hurts because it makes for shitty chemistry.

And man, their forwards really do blow. Kessel is good, but he's no Vanek.

Well, yeah, I kind of downplayed their D, but I don't see Boychuck as a huge threat.

(Unless he's slashing your ankles)

Torontos one of those "looks good on paper" defenses, which i guess would be why i myself and a lot of other people rate them as #1 in the division on defense. But really Bostons defense is over rated due to their system. I mean they have 2 solid guys and one stud, but the rest of their D is pretty terrible. Buffalo's D is better than theirs in my eyes but that may be because im Sabres biased as all hell. But seriously Leopold and Morrisonn are both upgrades from the guys we lost, so i dont see how we got any worse on defense.

Sabres are #1

Im just so glad Tallinder and Lydman are gone. I mean Tallinder never hit anyone and produced just about nothing on offense. And then theres Lydman, who can no longer be put on our PP by Lindy, thank the creator!
