Not only was guy on the ground deaf, both he AND his friend provided receipts for all their merchandise after being returned to the store.

I was disgusted watching this.

I've got a deaf brother.
That just about made me sick to my stomach.

1. you don't need to hold the guy in a choke hold to detain him
2. after a couple minutes of no communication, you'd think they would slow down and try to figure the situation out.

I bet they only lose their jobs and the security company gets sued.
They should go to jail for assault.

My girlfriend teaches sign language, and works with deaf people all the time. I know the struggles they go through, as much as I can know seeing that I can hear.

Watching him trying to tap the guard on the head BECAUSE HE COULDN'T BREATHE almost made me cry.

I used to live in Henrietta, right near RIT and the school for the deaf. I got to the point where I knew a fair amount of sign language for a ten year old. My mom worked at Wegmans, so I think she had to take a few classes on it and usually I tagged along.

It just occurred to me how normal is used to be to see several deaf people interacting on a regular basis at Wegmans and stuff and how long it's been since I've seen that.

Um. No matter if the person is deaf or not, is it really necessary to put ANYONE in a choke hold unless they're trying to harm you in some way? Furthermore, if the guy isn't saying anything to you at all, you'd think that'd be a clue that something is up. That's just ridiculous.

it's a very common thing now to teach infants and toddlers a bit of ASL.
We did with my daughter. We were communicating with her for probably 8 months before she could really talk.
Saves a lot of confusion and frustration.

I have been fully security certified and trained. That was COMPLETELY out of hand and improper, the security guards should be fired. Unacceptable. What a bunch of fucktards... seriously... and they wonder why people hate them so much cuz they think they are tough shit. Fuckers. god... That pisses me off... the fact the black security officer wouldnt let the guy in the white shirt try to explain, and pushing him back and shit like come on... seriously. what abunch of FUCK TARDS. Lawsuit easily won.

This is pretty fucked...those 'security guards' were complete fucking assholes. Although, in our uber litigious culture those two deaf guys probably just became millionaires, so I can only assume things will end well for them.

My mother taught my now eleven-year-old brother sign language when he was little. He was able to communicate at a very young age because of it. It's a great thing, and yes, it does save a lot of confusion. (Of course, he didn't really start to speak until he was four because he signed everything instead, but that was all right.)

Sad to say it but the LP team at my SEARS i work at is kinda like this. Only one guy who takes it WAY to serious. He yells at 12 year old girls to the point that they start crying for stealing a pair of underwear. Dude they're twelve!!

And they shouldn't steal. I have no problem with that, teach them a lesson young.

We still use it sometimes with my daughter and she's 5.
She'll sign "I love you" when I leave for work in the morning and being able to tell her to "wait" without using words (like if I'm on the phone) has come in handy many times.

Nah man, it's to much. He is the type of guy that CRAVES power, and takes a job as an LP associate to get it. He will absolutely disrespect the hispanic shoplifters if he thinks they can understand them to the point i want to drop him on the spot. Nothing worse than a racist power tripping weirdo.

The two people ganging on the blind dudes were African American. Maybe a racist thing played into it but most likely not.

I think that your effort to describe this guy is a valid one, but you can talk about something or someone till you're blue in the face but it's not the same as experiencing what something or someone is like in the real life.

That's also why I think people will never be desensitized to real violence through video game violence.

Harvard Research shows that violent video games actually contribute to a decrease in IRL violence.
