No, size is not critical. It's how you use it, right ladies?!

Seriously, size can help, when the guy plays big. But Mancari has size. Stafford has some too. But they play small. Then there are guys like Kaleta that are not big, but play big.

But then there are guys like Chara who are big and play huge! So, yeah, it helps. But it's not everything. But it also looks like the front office realized their mistake in trending towards the smaller players and have started to correct that in the last couple of drafts.

People always say that the Montreal Canadiens have the smallest forwards in the business of hockey, you could arguably say that's our problem too. I would have been in favour of getting a big tough guy like Jody Shelley or someone like that (since our last tough guy didn't turn out so well).

It's not a strength, but management has taken steps to address it. When you look at the roster you have some guys that don't always man up to their stature and then you have some that are just flat out smallish. Kassian, if/when he is mixed in on the top 6, is EX-ACT-LY the kind of player they need. Good size, toughness, and decent skill. He's probably a couple of years away, so in the meantime they still need a big mean forward on a scoring line. A guy like Ryan Malone would be a huge help with Buffalo next season but he has an untradable contract.

I wouldn't say it's as much size, as others have also said. Stafford/Mancari have size, and they are useless.

I'd say it's testosterone. Our forwards like Roy and Pommers need to grow some balls.

Someone get Myers on a meat only diet.

Dude. Did you watch him against Boston in the playoffs? He was straight smashin' Bruins! The kid's already got a streak of nasty (I'm told his impressive Junior playoffs showed such an attitude), he just needs to add a couple of pounds.

Remember when he knocked the shit out of Boychuck? And then that little whiny, bitchy cheap shot complained about it? Man I cannot wait until the first game against Boston. Boychuck is gonna get it.

No sorry I wrote that wrong. I meant to be our bruiser. Like, we need to feed him over the years...

I didn't mean he was in the same group and pommers and roy.

Ennis was harder to take off the puck then some guys bigger than him also.

That kid is only 5'9 also, size matters to an extent, I'd rather have a guy with the hands, feet, and hockey smarts over a useless 6'6" guy who can only hit people and be a body.

I'd take the 5'9 guy with vision, smarts, feet, and hands who could light the lamp anyday of the week, and maybe a few of those big guys who are useless, those are needed, but our team isn't as mall as some say we are.

That's what she said...

Ahem. I'm not worried so much about the hight and bulk of our players, I'm worried about them being able to carry their game into the playoffs. Roy and Connolly were no where to be found. Mike Grier was one of our top scorers.

If the Sabres do pick anyone else up or trade, I hope it's for a playoff-proven sniper. It's a nice dream right?

The Sabres have good team girth.

i think that size is a problem of ours but not really in the physical, grit way of thinking though. If our team was bigger they wouldnt need to expend as much energy during their shifts. the would, of course, lead to better performance and in all likely hood better results on the score sheet.

We all love what Ennis did in the playoffs but lets see if he can keep up that same style of play over the course of the season. i dont think he can. if he tries to play with the same intensity that he did during the playoffs, the wear and tear of the season will exhaust him and he will be burned out by the all star game. sure, he'll get a second wind, maybe, but how long will that exactly last.

It all depends if the Sabres are on top.

Has anyone ever played the original Playstation hockey game? It taught me a great deal about the importance of the diversity of your squad about 2112 years ago(oh noes, that's right! it's 2010).

sorry, but sometimes an argument really is that easy to resolve when you're smoking.

you can mention whitney all you want he will never come here because he doesn't want to come here.

Like jay said a true number one RW would help. A lot of people say the power forward, dustin brown *for example*, to be that guy who can chip in goals but at the same time clear the way for the skilled players like vanek. I think regier is hoping kassian will become that player and sort of save his ass.
