Some of you shouldn't even talk. I watch every coaches corner and I have heard Don call OV the best player in the game. And he doesn't ride Crosby's dick. As a matter of fact Crosby(more so his dad) didn't like Cherry for a while cause Don warned him that at 18 he shouldn't whine and so on. Don Cherry just likes good hockey and when he sees it being played he shows it on coaches corner. In fact does anyone remember when they blasted Cherry for talking about Gary Roberts more than Crosby during their one playoff run?
As for Crosby vs Ovie. It's been said 2 different players. If you take away the names and just watch the 2 players play hockey, I think the majority of the fans would take Crosby over Ovechkin. Remember when everyone said OV plays with no one. Well now he plays with some pretty talented people. Meanwhile Crosby's wingers were Kunitz(when healthy) and Guerin. Not bad but not much in comparison.
Anyways you can argue this topic for years(which people will) but in the end just enjoy the fact that we get two watch these 2 elite talents.

I love this topic for some reason. I also love both of these players; they're absolutely awesome for the game of hockey and the NHL.

Although,I really think Crosby is the better player. He has shitty linemates and puts up nearly the points that Ovie does, not to mention he's a fucking center. With that brings less of a focus on offense and let's be real, Crosby's defensive game is pretty darn good too. Ovie's is not. Crosby's hockey sense is the best in the leage and it's the reason I like him more and generally thing he's the better player.

Ovie is amazing defensively. Here's some examples, sir.





He's a center. How does that affect anything? He has a focus on offense because he needs to win the faceoff and bring it into the zone. Crosby's hockey sense is falling down like he just got shot and staying there when someone touches him.

A center is a forward, so of course it has offensive responsibilities. Probably about the same as a winger.

Crosby averaged :53 seconds of Short Handed Ice Time a game, that is by far more than what Ovechkin got, but does playing Shorthanded make you the better all around player?

There are hardly players today that can put up 50+ goals and play almost 3-4 minutes of SH time, most of those players on the PK are the players you expect to be on it, guys like Jochen Hecht, Mike Grier, and Chris Drury, and Jordan Staal. All guys who can maybe get 20 goals, but their defensive game excels over their offensive game. I just looked at the SH time for those players, and I don't see any superstar even remotely close to top 150 in SH time basically.

Come on already. Crosby's defensive game is MILES above that of Ovechkin's. While this is only one facet of their skillsets, defense is 50% of the game of hockey.

You could produce videos of a laundry list of hockey players featuring subpar elements of their game where they happen to excel in the particular instance shown on video. In other words, your videos don't mean shit.

anyways, good for miller. its wonderful that i have thought he had top 3 talent in the league, and he proved me right. not to say i told you so, but i saw something special about him. you could just see it, and if it all came together....

anyways, i think miller is going to be elite again this season, but expect a SMALL slip. he was just playing too well and eventually, he came to earth a little. not saying hes gonna suck. last year, with stats like THOSE, thats a once in a lifetime kinda year.

but maybe its not. look at guys who had close to the same numbers. in the late 90s, a great goalie was someone with a save percentage of .905-.910 now that wouldnt hack it. its all between .915-.922.. lot more parity between numbers now.

I think B&L is just a little angry that Crosby scored a goal on Miller. You're arguments just come off as insults directed at Crosby rather than constructive criticism. I think both players are incomparable due to their different playing styles and the roles that they have to take.

BTW, Ovie was suspended for very dirty plays that could end players careers (boarding and that sketchy Campbell hit). So if anybody believes that Crosby has committed any of these offences then post them on this board. I hear talks of him not getting suspended for his dirtiness so show us some evidence.

Crosby's vision, hockey sense, and ability to play the game at such a high level in EVERY facet is why I like him more and think he's the better player.

That said I love to watch Ovie play just as much, maybe even a little more. He's phenomenal as well.
