I'm just shocked at how bad the writers are, it's not just the stupid polls and lists that permeate everything in society, and not just hockey. It's the obvious and annoying fact that hockey writers either suck at writing about hockey or they just don't care what their readers think.

Gotta consider the source. Random crap on the internet is very likely to be just that ; random crap. With the proliferation of blogs and social media platforms, anyone can toss their thoughts up and make it look legit.

vokouns better then lundqvist. but better then miller? nope. my goalie list in the east goes as follows:

miller
rask
vokoun
brodeur (i forgot him!)
fleury
price
lundqvist
dipietro (when healthy)
varlamov (hes gonna climb real fast)
ward
elliot
then the clusterfuck that is toronto and tampa and philly

I would actually rank Broduer over Vokoun and Rask, but to rank Price better than lundqvuist is bad... I love the Rangers actually, my brother in law is the biggest Rangers fan I've ever seen, and me and him watch their games. Lundqvuist is amazing. He should be number 5.

lundqvist is so badly overrated, its pathetic. he sits way too deep in his crease, and his post to post movement makes him over commit. he doesnt square himself too well to the shooters, and he has oversized equipment. hes a good goalie, a legit second tier goalie. but hes not THAT good.

brodeur is great, and was great, but the defense the devils play in front of him force many shots from the outside, thus inflating his statistics. when the new jersey defensive style breaks down, he has a hard time stopping the shots.

price is still young, and he rebounded nicely last year in the second half. he was rushed to the NHL, and that hurt him. however, he, like fleury, has talent out the ass. if he can put it together, you are looking at a perennial all-star. but this is a big but, because it seems his head is keeping him from reaching that status.

rask. well, i was public enemy number one in march/april, because i cant stress how good this kid could be. it was an abbreviated season for him, and thats why his numbers were inflated, but this kids the real fuckin deal. and its not like hes coming from nowhere, he was highly rated before he was drafted by the maple leafs.

Lundqvuist is the reason the Rangers even have a hope of making the playoffs at all, other than Gaborik. He isn't as bad as you say.

no, hes not bad. at all. but he is overrated. he did turn in a fine season last year, and i can see that when you look at the numbers, people would jump to say hes VERY good. hes inbetween.

but i do think hes overrated. if you listened to the pulse of the NHL fan, you would assume he was the best goaltender in the NHL, not the 7-13 area he should be.

I agree, he's a top 5 goal-tender, the reason is what B&Y pointed out.

the rangers have had notably bad goaltending since richter stepped aside. all they needed was a guy to come in and stop some pucks here and there, and they were fine.

Lundqvist is a top 5 goalie in the East to me.

Rask shouldn't be on any list as he had 20 or so games to be based on, clearly not enough to determine if he will be the next Patrick Roy or just a one hit wonder.

To me Fluery is way way way too inconsistent, if he was consistent, watch out with him, but he goes 3 games stopping everything, then he shits the bed the next few games.

Price was also rushed as I've said numerous times too. Had he not bee rushed as he was, he would be right there with Miller right now, but he isn't because of how he was rushed into the NHL.

Rick DiP is definitely good, but he's been injured too long to see him play is his only problem.

Uh...he played in 45 games last year, plus 13 in the playoffs.

I still don't agree with Mike that he's the second coming, but he's done enough to show that he can be a quality starter in this league. Remains to be seen how he'll handle full time starting duties, and how the longer grind of playing night in and night out effects him.

there is something i noticed down the stretch last season. when moving side to side, he had explosive speed. i mean, its the fastest post to post ive ever seen, so he has that. BUT. it doesnt stop there. not only does he get to that spot lightning quick, he is square to the shooter and SET UP. the theory "just get to this spot" doesnt apply to him, he gets there and is set. it was unbelievable. plus he has extremely quick hands and legs when hes set up. thats why im so high on him. i mean, of course time will tell, maybe he just crumbles and is nothing. but to me, thats a sign.

I'm interested in seeing how he holds up to playing 65+ games, and also what happens now that shooters have more book on him.

Hey, he has to be good. The Leafs only trade away good players. :)

Pretty much, I don't see him getting the same stats as last year, but a .920 is what I would expect of him, maybe a bit lower.

Time will tell, it takes more than one year to determine if you're a Superstar.

steve mason is another goalie im really high on. he had a down year, but i think he should bounce back nicely. in fact, if the sabres traded miller away and got any young goalie in the league, it would probably be mason. though im also high on jack campbell as well.

Miller for Mason, Moore, and Johansen is probably the only trade I would do involving Miller.
