It's probably responsible for the high rates of teen pregnancy and abortion in the united states. Since studies have linked abstinence only sex education to increasing teen pregnancy rates.

I forget the actual numbers, but something like 86% of schools either teach abstinence only sex-ed, or present abstinence as the preferred form of birth control even though about 3/4 of parents favor comprehensive sex-ed including the use of contraceptives such as condoms and birth control.
