The National Hockey League today announced the national television schedules for the 2010-11 season. The Buffalo Sabres have been scheduled for nine national appearances in the U.S. on VERSUS, and four Canadian games on TSN.

Buffalo will announce a complete local broadcast schedule next week.

Buffalo’s eight exclusive games on VERSUS are tied with Pittsburgh, Boston and Minnesota for most in the NHL this season. They will appear nine times in total on Versus, second only to the 11 games by Washington, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Boston and New York Rangers.

Following are Buffalo’s nine games that will be televised by VERSUS:

*Tuesday, October 26 @ Philadelphia, 7:30 p.m.
*Tuesday, December 7 @ Boston, 7:30 p.m.
*Tuesday, January 11 vs. Philadelphia, 7:30 p.m.
*Tuesday, January 18 vs. Montreal, 7:30 p.m.
*Tuesday, February 8 @ Tampa Bay, 7:30 p.m.
*Tuesday, February 15 @ Montreal, 7:30 p.m.
*Tuesday, March 1 @ New York Rangers, 7 p.m.
*Tuesday, March 15 vs. Carolina, 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, March 30 vs. New York Rangers, 7 p.m.

(*denotes VERSUS exclusive Game of the Week)

The Sabres also appear three times as part of NBC’s flexible scheduling for regular season games. NBC will confirm the game 13 days prior to the scheduled date:

Sunday, January 23 @ NY Islanders, 3 p.m.
Sunday, February 20 vs. Washington, 3 p.m.
Sunday, March 6 @ Minnesota, 6 p.m.

The Sabres will make four national TV appearances in Canada on TSN:

Friday, November 26 vs. Toronto, 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday, January 18 vs. Montreal, 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, February 16 vs. Toronto, 7 p.m.
Tuesday, March 22 @ Montreal, 7:30 p.m.

The Sabres are also part of five regional Saturday games on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada: November 6 @ Toronto; November 27 @ Montreal; December 4 @ Ottawa; February 5 vs. Toronto; March 12 @ Toronto. All games start at 7 p.m.

That's because the ratings in Buffalo for them are through the roof. They'd be stupid not to televise us.

That having been said, I'd be okay with zero games on versus. Or versus releasing their schedule before I order my minipack so I know what games to be at :P

I think most people complain about the abundancy of Sabres games on Versus.

I like Versus a ton because those are the only games I can watch in Indiana. The rest are typically available online, but the picture is usually craptastic.

Expected opponents when it comes to Versus... No Penguins, though. Hurray!

Versus is based in Philadelphia. We play the flyers, that's bad enough.

I like the games on VS. If I really wanna hear RJ and Harry, I stream the WGR feed. I'm a junkie for the olde tyme feel of hockey on the (web-streaming) radio.

Meh, i'm so torn on this. I get center ice, but almost none of the games are in HD. The VS games are on HD but no RJ.

Oh wait...I always miss the obvious solution, i'll just kidnap RJ and make him do the play by play from my couch while we watch the game. I wonder what sort of beer he prefers...

Yeah, good point. I live in Rochester so i get all the games no matter what, but i understand not all people do. It's best for our fanbase to get as many games on national tv as possible. But, having said that, i also have center ice but i do really enjoy versus telecasts. Some of their play by play guys do get annoying, but i really enjoy their intermission reports with Bill Patrick, Keith Jones, and Brian Englom. I think versus does an excellent job now on their games during the week.

I do hope for one day return to ESPN because they do rule the sports in this country, however, i hope it's part of a separate deal then versus. I hope versus remains with NHL for a long time.
