It's like that scene from Seinfeld:

JERRY: So what'd we get?

GEORGE: (big smile) Eight thousand dollars.

JERRY: Beautiful!

GEORGE: (quietly) That's uh, for the two of us.

HELEN: Four thousand apiece?

JERRY: Lemme see if I understand this. In other words, you held out
for... less money.

GEORGE: I was wrong, you were right.

JERRY: You know, the basic idea of negotiation, as I understand it,
is to get your price to go... up.

GEORGE: You're smart, I'm dumb.

JERRY: You know, this is how they negotiate in the bizarro world.

As per ex-Sabres tradition, he will score 10 goals with the Rangers this season and 8 of them will be against us.

His agent DEFINITELY overplayed his hand. The "hometown kid" card was no doubt played to the max in negotiations, but ultimately did not carry enough weight to justify the $835k, no less a mil, no less a ONE-WAY contract. Fact is, if you're good enough, you needn't worry about one-way or two-way. If you're getting the job done, you're not getting sent down.

I never liked TK that much. Not just because of his smaller play, but, on a more superficial note (drum roll please), because he looked like such a freakin' mess with all that hair, especially when he was soaked in sweat. Yuk. Worse than Scott "hockey's-so-easy-even-a-caveman-can-do-it" Hartnell. And at least Hartnell can play hard.

BIG lesson leanred early by the rookie.

Paulrus the Walrus said today on WGR that Kennedy was offered a one-way deal worth $800K at the very last second and still he and his agent went to arbitration. Every last ounce of sympathy for the kid is 100% gone.

Every one was freaking out about him being waived then you say whateva, never liked him when he signs with another team.

Talk about being a teenage drama queen.

I hope he gets all the success he deserves.

I've never really been a Kennedy fan. Sure he had heart, but he simply never really had that "Oh man there goes Kennedy!" factor. O'well

A player doesn't need a wow factor to be good. Look at Steve Montador.

But for me Steve Montadors "Wow Factor" was his overall defensive play. I was satisfied with his game and that was his "wow" for me.

So he's getting less than what the team offered him. How dumb must TK and his agent feel now?

...especially since the cost of living in the NY Metro area is MUCH higher than in Buffalo.

That 800k is a King's ransom in WNY. Downstate he'll be getting 550k, which will just about cover his parking for the year.

And it won't buy the nice kind of dog food either...

I agree. We all wanted him to do great things being a Buffalo boy but he just wasn't that impressive. He would have flash in the pan moments but then drop off the radar for huge stretches at a time. I'm actually a bit happy he's gone, but no hating. I would however love to see him get smashed by someone in gold and blue when he comes back to play though.
