Didn't I hear something about the BP one not producing any oil either? Or was it some psuedo fake ass word speak explaining that "at the moment" they weren't collecting any? I can't remember. I hope there isn't any spill.

they are not sure if there is any pollution

---"Asked about concerns regarding oil leaks or pollution, Colclough said "there are reports the rig was not actively producing any product, so we don't know if there's any risk of pollution."---

the platform is still burning.

they were actively drilling on the deepwater horizon...this one was just sitting dormant.
AFAIK, if this well were still spitting oil, they'd be collecting it.

either way, this is just an exclamation point for the side against off shore drilling.

UPDATE:

cnn says there is a sheen on the surface of the water.

UPDATE 2: the platform had 7 active wells, though they have all been shut down. the fire is burning from oil already collected.

yeah
Quote:
The platform is a fixed petroleum platform that was in production at the time of the fire, according to a homeland security operational update obtained by The Associated Press.

The update said the platform was producing about 58,800 gallons of oil and 900,000 cubic feet of gas per day. The platform can store 4,200 gallons of oil.

But this sucker is only in 340 feet of water so anything catastrophic should be easy to handle.

Maybe we'll finally get that oil and natural gas fueled hurricane of fire that was promised a couple months ago.

It leaked oil...(but it sounds like the valves did their job, unless I missed something)
