Sens put Schubert on waivers

"Defenceman Christoph Schubert's days with the Senators could be over.

The team placed the blue liner on waivers today, meaning any interested NHL team can claim him for his $900,000 during the next 24 hours. If he clears waivers at noon Tuesday, then it's likely Schubert join the AHL Binghamton Senators as the NHL squad pares its roster down from the current 26 players left in camp. Or, the Senators could recall him and then try to move him for half his salary, picking up the other half themselves."

He struggled last year on a team that struggled (except against us). He had two decent seasons prior to last, and is only 27. A change of scenery may do him good.

Good size; though not particularely physical for being 6'3, 220+ lbs, and we just "love" those soft big men here in Buffalo............ ;)

I was reading on thn.com that Ottawa has been attempting to trade Schubert, but had found no takers. Apparently they really like young defenseman Erik Carlsson, and are trying to make room for him. Schubert will end up in Binghamton if there are no takers...

Ottawa also likes young center Peter Regin, and as with Carlsson, are trying to move players (Chris Kelly, and Shaun Donovan) to get him in the lineup. Kelly's contract make him difficult to move....

My guess is he will end up on the Rangers. Also Edmonton waived Rob Schremp he would be a descent pickup hint hint

Schremp just never got it going with Edmonton.

Pat, you've seen Schremp play a lot; what do you think his chances of making it elsewhere are?

He could make any other team no doubt, he just needs another chance. Everyone says he is cocky and he has an attitude and he maybe but to me he never got a fair chance. The guy did score 57 goals in his last year of junior. I would love to see Buffalo pick him up and waive Hecht or Paille to make room for him, believe me he is worth the risk.

EDIT:Dan Fritsche would be another possibility he was another ex-London Knight who never had a fair shot either.

Isn't Schremp the one who scores those fancy goals?

I hear you Mike; the more locals that can play, and play well here, the better...

You are so right irony, Fristche is actually a really good goal scorer when he played on the memorial cup knights but much like Schremp he has not had a fair chance.
