i wonder when they will stop painting logos, and just put down plastic with the logos on them. im sure they do that for ads on the ice.

I think with plastic you have the risk of the ice breaking or lifting where it would sit, but with paint you have a solid bond of molecules no matter what.

Seems like it wouldn't make a huge difference, but the ice isn't that thick where some sort of plastic logo wouldn't interfere somehow with the ice surface. Unless the plastic was pourous, but then you still have the risk of it not being perfectly smooth, and once you crease the plastic, you would be screwed, so it's just safer to use paint.

Well in my mind it is safer.

eh, it works with the stanley cup playoffs logos by the bluelines, and the ads in the neutral zone. those are plastic sheets with the logos printed on.

I don't know if more teams are doing it, but the Thrashers are painting the chevron shape of their logo into the red line. I'm loving this trend. Very snappy look.

I do agree, Mike, that the red line cutting through the logo sucks (you mentioned it elsewhere, I think). But that teams are sprucing up the red line helps make up for it.

i dont think it was me that said that, but i dunno. i always thought that, in buffalos case, once the red line cuts through the sabres logo, leave the line white, so you still know where the line is, but it adds serious character to it. something no other team has done. introverted red line through the logo.

within the logo, yes, leave it white, while painting the stars red.. outside the circle of the logo, leave it as it.

well, just as long as they leave the 06-07 banners alone. i hate when a team re-does banners to conform to their current logo.
