TSN still has 7:43 on the clock. You'd think they'd do a better job of tracking "Canada's team" :P

Good showing so far. I gatta say Stafford caught my eye on a few plays (For the good). One game in, we looked ok. Didn't think we played a solid 60 min but over all we looked good so far. BZK was a beast tonight. McCormick is making a decent push for his jersey to be the next one I purchase/Make.

I’d say tonight was an 8/10

Kassian with one of the stars of the night! :D

Don't let them get to ya, '96. Some people are just inconsiderate, others are flat out retarded. Just happens that both cheer for the Make Beliefs :P

I hope to GOD you're right, 27! The kid better be a regular in the lineup this season. Even on plays when he was out of the play tonight, he was still IN the play! If some of our kids crack the lineup this year, I'm sensing the red light being changed regularly this season behind the opposing goal because there is a lot of retarded skill waiting to burst onto the scene!

LOL, Fill your boots man! The more it is said to them, MAYBE they'll catch on after a while that no one has to poke fun at them for wearing their sweaters. The colors/logo is more than enough. They do it to themselves!

Wow, just totally had a Radiohead moment there! :o

A lot of positive energy here, it's all circular, it's a carousel. You want on the carousel, you feel alive, it's positive flow around and around. All things good, all things inward, all positive.

From my blog
Quote:
The Good
Kassian didn’t look out of place at all. He also had great chemistry with Ennis, even apart from the goal they combined for.

The penalty kill was as fantastic as always. Rob Niedermayer will be a big factor there.

Morrisonn-Myers is indeed a great pair. Both players were physical and shut down the Leafs very well.

Good compete level, as they say in hockey.

Vanek’s roughing was great. Sent a message that even the skill players aren’t going to take guff.

The Bad
Gaustad’s delay of game. I hate that penalty (So does @shelbygriswold – she named her blog after it!).

Luke Adam, Drew Schiestel, and Brayden McNabb didn’t have the best games. It’s a good thing not one of those players are trying to make the Sabres or I’d be worried.

The Leafs ought to look very different on Monday, which means more veterans in the line-up.

Nazem Kadri and Mike Komisarek. Kadri was a -2 and looked generally bad, while Komisarek was getting tossed around and didn’t answer the challenge Kassian threw down. Should be better on Monday after some rest.

The Ugly
Still too many Slugs in HSBC Arena. Doug Allen’s rug, the scoreboard, the miniature Sabres stores, and numerous vending kiosks. Salt that motherpuncher.

Closing Thoughts
People have a right to be excited about Kassian after seeing him register some solid hits, challenge a veteran, assist Tyler Ennis on the game winning goal, and play a very capable game. But they need to understand that the Leafs will probably be icing more veterans on Monday and it’ll be harder for him to compete at such a high level. I would leave the Morrisonn-Myers pair alone and have them form the #1 pair for the regular season. They played great together, were both physical, and made some great passes that implied strong instant chemistry. I would expect one of McNabb or Schiestel out of the line-up for Monday, and possibly Adam, too.

It looked like a preseason game and smelled like a preseason game but a bunch of leaf fans having to drive back home, defeated, gives me regular season joy.

To be honest, the fat fuck behind me that was yelling 'HIT HIM' every time anyone was near the puck was more annoying than the two Laughs fans I sat next to. If his kid wasn't sitting next to him, we would have had words.

I'd also like to add that Enroth looks like he's NHL ready. He was sharp in every aspect of his game. In close, shots from the outside, shots from the slot, nobody could get anything soft by the kid. I'm not saying he's the next coming of God, but he looked very solid, and the only goal that was scored on him, would have probably gone in with anybody in net.

All in all, a very solid game, glad I could almost be there. (I was baked as shit through the first 2 periods)

It was fun, but the Leafs didn't show up to play. Not sure if you can judge anything about the Sabres accurately from that game because the competition was so poor.

All in all I liked what I saw last night. Vanek smacking that guy, Kassian, Myers, Ennis, Niedermayer and Miller are all positive things I took away from it. Myers was looking like he had something to prove and even though the Laughs were God Fucking Awful I still thought we looked great. This pre-season stuff is just a tease though, I want the real thing.

That was their 5th game in 5 nights. Didn't expect them to have much in the tank.

Shut down the worst offense in the league.
