He may be too good for the OHL, but because of his age they don't have a ton of options where he can go. You put the guy where he can do the most good. Given the options of the OHL or NHL, that just might be the OHL for now.

going by numbers, hes not too good for the OHL.

he had 24 goals two seasons ago, and albeit a very abbreviated year last year, he had 12 goals. in 157 games, he has 45 goals.

im very high on kassian, but the truth is he probably isnt ready to contribute to the sabres offensively. and he was drafted to do so. another year in the OHL is only going to help him. having him play 6 minutes on the 4th line this year isnt going to make the sabres substantially better, and it could hinder his growth. too much gamble, not enough reward to do it, IMO.

There were two comments on youtube saying he will lead us to the cup and will be the best player in the NHL one day.
I shit myself, made fun of them, then cried because stupidity that epic can only make me cry.

I watched most of the game on replay late last night and I was very impressed with Kassian, he's physically ready for the NHL and he's got some great passing skill!

Possible thread jack, but...the team as a whole looked very fast-the breakout especially. I think the breakout was very poor vs. Boston in the playoff series, very poor. I didn't think much of the forwards defensive zone coverage in that series either. Those two things stood out the most in that pre-season contest. Whether that's me reading too much into it or the result of a focused team responding to strict instruction from the coaches, I can't say. But the result was excellent, Roy especially. I think he will get 90^ points this season, and if Vanek has as big a season as I want him too, Roy might even eclipse 100 points!

Stafford (the anti-Kassian) played very well, 6 shots, 17+ minutes of ice time, and he looked faster than I remember him. There may be some real chemistry developing between the Sabres two budding star wingers, Ennis and Kassian. That = Awesome for many entry level contract years to come.

It's one game, one pre-season game.

Too good for the OHL? What in the hell makes him too good for the OHL? Hes good yes but he has not done anything spectacular in the OHL to make anyone even consider that hes too good.

If he goes back to the OHL I hope he comes to London, Windsor will be not so good this year

I thought the same about Myers last year and he made it, plus Tyler made it as an underage d man and it is harder to make the NHL on d then it is on forward.

If you thought Myers didn't do anything spectacular in the WHL, you weren't watching him.

Ohh I thought he was good and I did watch him but I thought there would be no chance in hell he would make the Sabres last year because they never USE to rush up there players

Myers production increased when he came to the NHL.

I think the same will happen for Kassian. Some players and their attributes are better suited for play in the NHL.

Ennis-Niedermayer-Kassian is a sick line combination. Niedermayer can finish, lead, and keep guys calm. His first pass is always going to be a good one. Ennis is stupidly skilled, fast, and unpredictable. He'll draw lots of defensemen and keep Kassian and Niedermayer open. Kassian will intimidate, hit, finish, and pass right with his two line mates. No one will want to mess with Ennis with him on the ice.

This assumption is based on big ZK's ability to continue to play as he did in the first game. But I see that line being one of our highest producing lines on the team.

Let's not plan a Cup parade or anything...

Kassian looked good. In one preseason game. Against the Laughs. Who had played their 5th game in as many nights. He's not going to be that good every night, regardless of if he makes the team or not.

I know that people want to see him do well, but let's not anoint him as the savior just yet.

Didn't call him a savior, didn't say it was definite, didn't say we'd win the cup, and didn't say he'd be that good every night.

I made an assumption based on a contingency.

And don't downplay the fact that it was the Leafs. They're division rivals, and while we seem to get the upper hand on them the majority of the time, the wins don't come easy.

We'll see how he handles the rest of the preseason. If he continues to impress, I see him being more effective in the NHL than he was in the OHL, similar to the way Myers did last year.

Time will tell.

My comments were more directed in general, not specifically at you.

I also think you're giving the Leafs too much credit for that game. They had a lot of kids in there, and the 5 games in 5 nights , plus travel, cannot be discounted.

That was a tired team from the 2nd period on. The Leafs aren't great, but they aren't as bad as they played. They had no legs, nothing in the tank.

I thought Kassian played very well in his first game and I like the addition of Niedermayer alot because he can play against other teams top forwards. Ennis looked great and he's going to be a good one. He picked up right where he left off in the playoffs.
It should be interesting to see tonights game with both teams having last night off. I'm really hoping that Kassian has another good game tonight. I would like to see him make Darcy and Lindy's jobs difficult with a decision on him either to keep him up or send him back down to juniors.
