It is the pre-season and doesn't speak much upon how the team will actually look or preform.

Great, now that thats out of the way, I would like to see some thoughts on the Sabres, particularly the newer or younger ones, based on their preseason play.

For me, the Kassian, Ennis, Neids line looked good, but also feels good.
A veteran center, a young dangler, and a young big body bolds well for a line combination.

Stafford's and Vanek's play looked better than last year. I hope both they and Connolly have better seasons coming out of last year.

I'm not saying Kassian or Ennis should be full-time come regular season, but at this point they are solidly worth a look. I for one have high hopes for Ennis.

More to come after Game-2.

I don't have many comments, having to watch the game online doesn't give you a lot to look at. It was nice to see Enroth go in and play well though.

Morrisonn looked pretty good out there too with throwing some big hits here and there.

Morrisonn looked how he's looked in practice and scrimmage...skated smooth, made smart passes, wasn't pressured easily, plus he laid big hits and looked great on the PK. He skated like Tallinder Lite and played like Lydman without the dumb turnovers.

Kassian, Ennis, and Morrisonn stood out for me. I was also impressed with Enroth...I'm looking forward to seeing him get some NHL time this season.

The ineffective power play is worrisome.

Nothing really changed from last season, so why would it be more effective?

It's called learning and making adjustments.

I agree 100%. I would have thought Buffalo would try something different in the preseason to get the powerplay working. It looked exactly like last year. Powerplay needs to be better this year.
I really like the addition of Niedermayer as he plays a solid two way game.
Myers looked great and looks like he's going to be more physical this year.

I agree the sabres coaches should be working on getting the powerplay better and trying something different. It seemed exactly like what they did last year and yes it's worrisome.

Sekera scored a power play goal.

Sekera's goal was even strength.

That sounds like... a pretty damn good defenseman.

I for one am not impressed with Enroth. He has HORRIBLE positioning. He always has to struggle massively to make an easy save. With an addition to his small size, it doesn't look good.

That's why I don't even bother with preseason being out here... :(
