I went on NHL Network, found the game and when i clicked the record button to put it on my DVR, it tells me the game is blacked out? wtf? and I looked on MSG, and the basic stations, and Vs. to see if it is maybe on their, because usually when its blacked out on one station it is somewhere else. But nope. Cant find it. Any reason this is the way it is?

MSG has the rights to broadcast Sabres games in the Buffalo market. They can (and are) preventing the Leafs TV broadcasts on the NHL network from being shown here.

Not much you can do about it.

It's like that every year.

Even though MSG isn't carrying it, they black it out on NHL network because MSG has the rights to show the game in that area.

It's fucking bull shit, stupid, and pathetic that I can't watch my team play because someone else has the "rights" to show it.

The lady I talked to at TWC told me that Tuesday's game vs. Ottawa is going to be in HD on MSG.

And MSG doesn't show the Sabres out here in HD. I can only get the SD version.

My brother said it wasn't blacked out on NHLN on DirecTV last night. That doesn't make much sense to me.

I actually remember when I had DirecTV that happened to me once, but then they blacked it out after like the 1st period or something. Weird.

That could have happened, I dunno. I was down at Faherty's, and my brother mentioned it when I got home. He said it was on at first, but then he switched over to football after a couple minutes.
