Did Stafford finally get the operation?

I hope he has a great year so we can trade him in March and actually get something in return

That's not gonna happen. He'll be having a great season with good chemistry and Darcy won't wanna ruin it so we'll keep him throughout the playoffs. Then come the offseason he'll be requesting a big paycheck that we all know he doesn't deserve regardless of how well he does this season and Darcy will let him walk with nothing in return.

It'll be the same scenario as Hank was last year.

A bodycheck from Keith Tkachuk, a misdiagnosed back injury, and a nasty hit in the playoffs is not injury prone.

We've always had a real first line, just not always a real GOOD first line. There's a difference ;)

Stafford is still RFA, he'd have to sign an offer sheet.

Sean is correct, Stafford hasn't had 7 years in the league and he won't be 27 by that time either.

Stafford will be arbitration eligible this time around. If he even has an average season, he'll get around a $2M arbitration award that the team could walk away from if they so choose.

That's obviously a long ways away, but honestly Stafford has had many chances to succeed here, and hasn't shown it. I think that if you can get a good piece for him at the deadline, you do it.

He also knows that the Sabres are willing to throw up the middle finger at an overzealous arbitration award.
