Couldn't you make the same argument for any team in the league? How many teams can say they have a backup that could be thrust into the role of a full time starter and perform at the same level? I would say very few.

I really hate that argument.

hehe

Hence the reason they're in the backup role and not starting.

I can name plenty of backups I'd be more comfortable with than Lalime.

Pascal LeClaire/Brian Elliot (Ottawa)
Jonas Gutsavsson (Toronto)
Tim Thomas (Boston)
Marty Biron (NYR)
Dwayne Roloson (NYI)
Johan Hedberg (New Jersey)
Brian Boucher (Philadelphia)
Scott Clemmenson (Florida)
Ondrej Pavelec (Atlanta)
Mike Smith (Tampa Bay)
Chris Osgood (Detroit)
Ty Conklin (St. Louis)
Mathieu Garon (Columbus)
Jason LaBarbera (Phoenix)
Antero Nittymaki/Antti Niemi (San Jose)
Jonathan Bernier (Los Angeles)
Josh Harding (Minnesota)

From what I have seen of Enroth I'm surprised I still remember his name.

I kind of meant that you put LaBarbera on there. The others are correct, but LaBarbie is fucking horrible.

Yeah, until they play for us and lose a game then people are booing them off the ice and calling them a bum. And why are you naming goalies who aren't even available?

My point was that these are backup goalies that I would feel more comfortable with being a backup to Miller. I wasn't trying to say that any of these people were available. If Ryan Miller was going to out for a month, I'd trust a good portion of these goalies for that portion of time over Lalime.

And BlueandYellow, the fact that LaBarbera is on the list just means that I think more of him than Lalime. That's not really saying all too much, but I think he's a better option, for sure.

CV ran numbers for last year that compared Lalime to all the other backups in the league. He was pretty much above average if I recall. Not the best backup in the league, but far from the worst.

Middle of the pack, and what you expect from a backup goalie really.

Goal support is a huge one though.

Yep, and that can't be pinned on him.

Out of Vanek_Fanatic list Harding and Osgood are the only ones who have worse stats than Lalime, so he's got a point even though Lalime's stats aren't bad for a backup.
The real question is, would Enroth be better than Lalime? I think we will have to wait until Lalime's groin takes another break. Right now I'm more comfortable with Lalime as backup.

Enroth's positioning is bad, bad, bad. He also is very small. NHL wise he won't do well, IMHO.

I think it's too early in Enroth's career to gauge how well he'll do in the NHL. I am eager to see him get some starts up here, though.

Khabibulin, Lehtonen and Neuvirth should have better stats, they're starter material.
