Toronto, Canada.

Bars close early (last-call 12:30-12:45 - Drinks off at 1:00 AM.)

The rise of asian and indian street-gangs has turned the place into a shooting gallery (in their respective cultural neighborhoods.)

The cost of living is greater than that of Boston, MA (one of the highest in the US.)

Parking is at a premium, with some lots charging up to $25/hour, during peak, daytime periods.

And the Leafs pretend to try to play Hockey there...

I've definitely never been there, but Paris seems overrated to me. It just looks... ugly/average.

Ummm. Let's see. I bet Miami is overrated. Never been there, either, but I bet it is.

You like bad parking? Check out San Francisco sometime.
When I left the bay area about 7 years ago there were 10,000 more cars than physical parking spaces registered within city limits.

Actually, last call is at 2 am. And while you're correct in mentioning that there has been an influx of street gangs, the fact of the matter is that they generally only go after members of rival gangs and unfortunately innocent civilians sometimes get caught in the crossfire. Nonetheless, Toronto's homicide and violent crime ratio still remains very low in comparison to other major North American cities.

You are absolutely right about the cost of living and parking though, it's ridiculous. And as much as I hate to admit it, my beloved Leafs are looking even worse than they were last season, and I really didn't believe that to be possible.

100% correct.

I will throw in Amsterdam. The place is thought of as some smoking, free wheeling paradise but it's really more like LA with cobblestone streets and culture. Because some drugs are legal people come looking for ones that aren't as well which in turn bring tons of guys from the Islands prowling around barking out "Coke, Heroin?" as they pass you. Because it's so easy to get anything you want the junkies don't stay in certain sections, they just walk around hounding everyone for cash with their track marks and wreak on display for everyone to see.

Ew, Amsterdam. Don't forget legalized prostitution, which has led to a lovely boom in sex trafficking. Idiots.

Sex trafficking is a huge problem worldwide, and Amsterdam has become an absolute hotbed for it... They're not hookers; they are nearly all unwilling slaves, as are many of the prostitutes here and everywhere. That "industry" has absolutely exploded over there because prostitution itself is legal... Those who decided to legalize it really had no foresight whatsoever... But, yeah. It's one of the largest sources of money exchange in the world. It may have moved into first, ahead of drugs. I'm not sure, but I know it generates over $10 billion a year (I believe; it's been a year since I've researched it in depth). I know it's close to first. It is EVERYWHERE, and Amsterdam... yeah...

Anyway.

NYC is absolutely not overrated and I only spent two days there. No way.

As far as cities I've been to.

Sandusky. Park is great, "city" is a lot of nothing.
Albany is gross.
So is Poughkeepsie.
Was not impressed with Raleigh.
Washington DC is kind of a mess.

With DC, if you are in not in the monument/White House/ and such area it's a drag and just like any other city, a complete mess.

NYC, has so much to do, and to only spend two days there is seeing nothing. I spent 7 day and saw very little of it, Being in Manhattan area it is a really awesome place, or trying to go inside Tiffany's or Gucci, or Prada on Madison Avenue is quite cool. millions of dollars is on one street there.

Raleigh also depends on where you are within the city. North Raleigh is where the rich places are and the richest area is. Also the actual downtown isn't too impressive with Raleigh, all there is to do is Fayettville Street. But if you know where the malls are at, or Capitol Blvd it's not bad at all there.

In Central NC, it just seems better away from the actual city of Raleigh, almost everywhere I can go isn't in Raleigh, it is all around unless I want to actually go to a mall. But the Western Half of Raleigh is basically the college of NC State.
