They had two powerplays at the end and they had extra time and STILL LOST.

Leopold did not look good to me and neither did Hecht. Roy played good along with Ennis, Vanek had a few chances as well.

I liked Roy and Ennis as well as Myers and Morrison.
I didn't like Connolly and Leopold and I expected McCormick to get involved more.

stafford looked better than he has at times over the past few seasons, but it seems like he lost it in the process of not giving a fuck. his train has already passed, i guess, and he won't catch it to get back on.

I think it's fair to expect a 6-0 record vs. the Sens this season, they simply cannot skate with the Sabres. The Sens only hope is on the PP, but oh yeah the Sabres are great on the PK, so...good luck with that.

Hecht: Tremendous on the PK, thinking too much at ES. Perhaps he's still getting used to his new line mate? That excuse is only good for the first few games of the season, they have training camp for a reason.

Roy: Both of his goals were absolutely brilliant, but the play I liked most was the fake pass around the 15m mark of the 1st. He scrambled BOTH defenders brains and created a great scoring chance. Even Roy might have been a little surprised how well that worked! lol

Leopold: He played a good game except for losing that battle in the neutral zone. That was a tough keep, but he recovered quickly and tried to buy time until help got back, but eventually lost the battle. He could have dumped it back in and got the whistle, but that would have brought the draw back in their own zone. I think the only thing he did wrong all game was fail to get better body position to protect that puck in the N-zone.

Morrisonn: I like the way he throws that frame around, especially when Kovy thought about bringing it to the front of the net. lol Not the sharpest passer in the league...

Ennis: I thought he looked kind of nervous, not "holly shit I don't belong in this league" kind of nervous, just nervous. Even so you can just see that he is oozing with talent, and he got an assist.

Miller: Razor sharp. Intimidating.

The bad news about this game was the breakout. For whatever reason(s) it seems like there aren't enough options for the blue liners, or that it's very predictable for the other team to read the defense men. I can't stand neutral zone turnovers, this is something the team needs to work on early and often.

Ennis actually had two assists, not to nitpick. I am a stats dork, though (not as big of one as Alex, let it be known, but no one is).

I thought Morrisonn-Myers have shown already that they are not a pair to try anything against. Pretty plays get the puck picked away, hard-checking plays get plastered into the ice, and they're a force on the PK. They have good, silent chemistry and know how to get the puck to each other or out of the zone smoothly.

It bothers me a lot too. The Sabres have had this problem for a long time. Sekera doesn't help the matter, wtf was he doing out there anyways? I thought Butler won that job?

Myers: I wasn't impressed. He seemed to try to take things in his own hands a bit too much and he made a couple mistakes I didn't like. I'm just scared of the sophmore slump is all.

Roy: Looks like a new player. The first goal was sick. He looks faster and his hands look better.

Ennis: Love this kid. He was/is responsible for most of my excitement for the beginning of the season. Give him time. If he figures out how the game is played at the NHL level, he will be a tremendous player I think.
