Well, nothing about this has been reported, but I think Rask is going to have a run for his money as the no. 1 goaltender. Tim Thomas got a 29 save shutout, while Tukka Rask has 5 goals against him.

Hmm....

Tim Thomas is overrated, Pat. His best season was a result of the tremendous performance of the system around him. Late blooming is one thing. Finally being competent at 30+ is another.

Rask is the second coming of Jesus Christ in some people's eyes. He's better than Miller, the Pope, and Rosa Parks all rolled up into one ball of excellence.

Or he's a kid who hasn't proven much of anything yet. Who knows.

I think Rask will be VERY talented...just not yet. That being said, he's shown clear talent whereas Thomas has shown it takes the skaters around him to put together a Vezina season.

Should I have said semi-psuedo-kinda-sweet? Shit I want Miller over either of them any day. My only point is that Thomas or Rask would make a much better back up goalie than our man Lalime.

I agree with that statement, and honestly I would rather have a Rask/Thomas tandem over Miller/Lalime. But that's because young and talented + old and competent are helluva lot better than the world's best + shitty as shit.

Rask is unflappable, that is why they won the Stanley Cup last year, or only became the fourth team in history to blow a 3-0 game lead. And a 3-0 goal lead in the 7th game.

Especially in this season with so many back to backs. Lalime blows and having that kind of sub par goalie playing as much as he may have to this year is scary.

You guys would want a back-up goalie for 5 mill that puts us in a major salary cap problem? Having Miller and lalime is way better. If Lalime gets some goal support he'll win half his games, which is all we can ask for when he's only gonna play 15 at the most.

He can most certainly play better. We could have gotten Biron for only a mill or so more... He would have been way better. We have the cap for it.

But Lalime was signed, so no need to go get another goalie then.

It's an assumption that he would play better. You don't know that would happen.

You also don't know that Marty wanted to come back and play behind Miller, especially when Miller is the reason Marty's not here anymore in the first place. People tend to forget that Marty ASKED to leave because he wanted to play, not sit behind Miller on the bench.

We also don't know if Lalime would play better, but we will find out.

Yes, we will.

My point is that people keep bantering about this theory that Biron would automatically be better than Lalime, and have no basis in fact to back that up.

Oh I agree, but ultimately Biron has proven to be a better goaltender. Doesn't mean he will be better, but if they would have gotten Biron instead of Lalime (If they could) it would have been a smart decision.

Exactly, no one knows how Lalime will do this year at all.

That's not really true either.

One of these is Biron. One is Lalime. Can you see the difference? Because frankly, I can't.
