The hit was clearly from behind, not from the side. Pomminville was struck directly between the numbers in the back, which drove Pomminville's head directly into the glass.

If you think that was a clean hit, I have no words to explain my rage towards you.

Hits under the new NHL rules have to be face to face.

Even if you rule that hit as one from the side, its illegal.

But it was worse. It was shoulder into his name and numbers on the back of his jersey.

Its illegal by the old and new standards.

I didn't read your last post, but if you're suggesting that he shouldn't have gotten thrown out of the game then you're wrong. The league needs to have a zero tolerence policy on illegal hits like that. Players who throw around hits like that should be thrown out of the game and suspended, period.

Absolutely. Say what you will of his production over the last couple of years, Pommers is a great guy (based on what I've seen/heard) and good in the community. I'll always cheer for him. It hurt to see him like that..
