With the utmost amount of respect, kiss my ass. I won't get over it.

As much as you're sick of the lolipops and rainbows crowd (which I am NOT a part of), I am equally sick of the overly pessimistic crowd that thinks they know more about the game than anyone else. The same crowd that will pop in to tell us how they told us so, and point out all the flaws in the team.

Of course,if the Sabres rip off 5 straight and look good doing it, those same people are nowhere to be found. They'll just lay in the weeds for the next clunker so they can trot out their 'superior' knowledge.

You're not dealing with facts. You're dealing with opinions. I'd think as a cop you might know the fucking difference.

Fly, that can be your nick if you want. I always think of you like that anyway.

Squanto, whatever. You KNOW I'm not in the overly pessimistic crowd. I stated several times in the past that I don't expect a Stanley Cup to be happy as a fan each season. I took all kinds of BS for defending the team after the Boston series. I stick up for Connolly, Rivet, Vanek, Kennedy etc. I argue against PS2 type blockbuster trades all the time.

Again, I made a few very simple observations that are indeed FACTS. The team has a habit of playing sloppy at times, and this has carried over to start the season. Those aren't opinions at all. I really don't see how that is so freakin' pessimistic in the first place, unless you took the title "They'll never learn" literally to the hilt.

As a cop I do know the fucking difference, but go ahead and use that angle as much as you want. I know that no matter what facet of life I'm in somebody will bring up my job (it is just a job) as some big meaningful commentary on how I should proceed in every detail, including how I post on a farking fan board. That comment was just plain stupid, but I'll get over it. You should try it sometime.

Saying that a team is 'playing all fancy' isn't a quantifiable fact. It's an opinion, plain and simple.

You may not consider yourself to be in the overly pessimistic group, but you clearly are. They played one good game, and one bad game, and that somehow was enough justification to make a thread pontificating about how 'they'll never learn'?

They had played 120 minutes of hockey when you made this thread, yet you have already written them off as a nancy pants team who doesn't pay attention to detail. Considering that they will play almost 5000 minutes of hockey this season, I'd say it's safe to say your sample size isn't large enough to draw any reasonable conclusions.

This was the second post in this thread, and it's exactly what I was referring to. So Ryan Miller and I are big pessimistic blowhards that know more and better than everyone else around here then. We only say things based on opinion, and nothing more, but we both try to pan them off as facts. Ryan Miller and I are very sorry for displeasing you.

Ryan Miller, as a member of the team, is qualified enough to know what his team is or is not doing.

You, as a fan, are not qualified enough to make that assessment from watching some games on TV.

EDIT: To clarify this statement, Miller can say on a factual basis what his team is or is not doing. He's on the team, he's in the room, he knows what's going on.

A fan at home watching on TV can form an opinion about what the team is or is not doing, but is not qualified to factually assess anything.

Oh yeah, my eyes are qualified enough to see Myers give away another goal, create another 2-on-1 goal against, and see the team finally grit their teeth and play hard too late in the game to comeback.

That is one factual assesment of yet another sloppy home loss, although I'm sure there are other points that can be made. I'm sure more quotes from Miller and other players will cover the rest. If not, Mike Harrington's article this morning described the issue fairly well.
