The Sabres have sucked so far... but they give me just enough hope to keep me tuned in. Who am I kidding, they could probably get shutout nightly and I would still tune in.

I'm stupid.

Some people love Miller so much he can let in 8 goals a game and be a Vezina trophy winner in their eyes.

We were told not to worry in the off season (though many of us weren't). Then in the preseason. After game 2. Now game 3. We need to worry at SOME point.

Miller does need to tighten up in the crease. He doesn't look as focused as last season.

But we got hemmed in our own end for a good portion of these last 2 home games.
No one is saying the sky is falling and gelling with new teammates takes some time.
The overall riding factor from my point of view is that these were "HOME GAMES".
This team should not be squandering points like this, regardless.

And the POWER PLAY does suck complete ass.

Chicago only scores 2 goals if we don't let Hossa go in all alone twice.

Miller did just fine. In fact, he played great.

This only serves to further solidify my view of Miller's performance.
He got smoked, "TWICE", by the same player. And were not talking about fancy footwork here either.
Nope, both of those shots taken by Hossa "SMOKED" Ryan Miller. Thats not like him, hell, that first breakaway, the Miller looked as though he was caught completely off guard. That shows me a lack of mental focus, the kind he displayed last season consistently.

Miller was only part of the problem, atleast in last nights game. Failure to create any type of transitional game out of our own zone was plain for all to see. But then, we saw this problem last season as well, only, Miller covered up alot of that with great net-minding.

The Power Play has sunk to even newer lows.

Vanek has all but dissappeared. We need a "consistent" sniper, not a streaky one.

Connolly, outside of his goal last night, has actually digressed in his ability to be an effective scoring line center.

Yes, its only 3 games into the season, but as the season progresses, these are already very telling signs that management has failed to implement viable solutions to problems they already knew needed to be addressed. It concerns me, as a fan, even 3 games in.

Miller had 4 saves on 6 Hossa shots my friend.

The two he allowed, Hossa was allowed to walk in alone.

Find me another goaltender in the NHL who will do better. I dare you.

I have seen some things that have surprised me so far. Hecht is playing surprisingly well, Stafford looks better but still not at the level he should be, Vanek is obviously in the doghouse and thus being put with crappy linemates, new guys are all playing better than I had hoped, Connolly can't make a pass to save his life and Roy is playing out of his mind. Hopefully things to work themselves out but I do have reservations about the lines Ruff is putting together...Vanek is the offensive player on this team and NEEDS top line minutes and players around him.

Jesus Christ...are you serious?

Vanek is on a line with Connolly and Pomminville. He was also playing with Roy and Stafford for a bit in the NYR game. THOSE are crappy linemates? Who else on this team is Vanek SUPPOSED to play with?

I will say this about Miller and I'm not down on this guy just yet. But last year he was motivated to be Team USA #1 goalie and he worked his ass off during the offseason and it showed. He carried this team along with Myers. This year you can't blame him for all the goals because their has been some breakdowns with coverage's but he doesn't look like he did last year so far. Last year he probably would have saved a couple of those goals that got by him so far this year. It's still early so lets see where his game goes before throwing him under the bus.

Its not about losing just 2 games. If you can't face the facts that are displayed on the ice by this team, I am truly sorry. But reality is what it is. Miller sucked, the defense sucked, the power play sucked, Vanek is non-existent on the score sheet and Connolly showed up once in 3 games for a goal.

Please god, tell me you dispute these facts, if you do, go get some glasses, PLEASE!

You initially wrote that the "defense sucks" where as you have changed it to "sucked". Big difference between sucking for two games and just plain sucking. Big difference between your first post which we disagreed with and your second post which for the most part is true. So far we have some players who have under-performed.....but the sky isn't falling.

Quote:
Defense sucks ass.
Power Play is non-existent.
Vanek is worthless.
Connolly is the same.
Miller is not to be blamed, but WTF? You want a legacy, try building one. One great season does not a champion make.Myers and Ennis show promise, with growing pains.

Are you serious? We have played three fucking games and you act like we've blown the season. Go buy some perspective and some muscle relaxers sheeesh.

Try some de-caf.

Wow. This is hockey, not football. The Sabres have more than enough time to fix their problems.

lol at people criticizing Miller because he didn't stop Marian fucking Hossa on a breakaway. Miller hasn't been as stellar as he was last season...but it's only been 3 games. Trust me, I'll be as concerned as the next person if this trend continues in the next few weeks or so, but right now people just need to calm down.

Didn't read the whole thread. I saw your point on Connolly and all I have to say is:

FUCK CONNOLLY..

get this faggot off the team. I'm sick of his pansy ass just going through the motions out there. He's gotta be worth something decent in the trade market, make it happen.

Also, the problem with this team is not the talent level. It's the effort level. I just don't see it. The players themselves commented on this (can't remember in particular who it was that I'm thinking of) after Game 2. They came out hard for what, a few minutes in the 1st period and then died off. Gee, that hasn't been going on for the past how many seasons.

You either want it or you don't. I just want to see a team that really wants to compete out there. I wish everyone on our team put out HALF the effort that Ennis does every shift.

Good christ...

Connolly will not be traded. His contract and history makes it impossible to trade him. But ya know what? A player who had a better PPG avg than Jonathan Toews deserves to be traded, yup yup.

yeah how did that better ppg than Toews avg work out for us in the playoffs? :shhh:

I don't like Connolly's effort or lack thereof. I'd rather see Gerbe out there. Sounds crazy I know. I'd rather watch a guy who isn't as talented give 100% than a more talented player not give two shits out there. Standby while I cry you a river here.
