Honestly, what in the hell is going on? They played a good game today, got hosed by some bad calls, but still had their clusterf*ck moments.

I'd advocate a change of captain. Rivet, to me, is the old dog you drag along because he's the old dog. I think he was unanimously the captain because he was their least worst option.

There are better options now. Gaustad comes to mind.

I'm not a fan of Rivet at all. He's slow and old. But then again I'm kinda wondering if the players are sick and tired of Lindy Ruff's coaching style.

Fire Ruff
Demote Butler
Sit Connolly, bring up someone
BRING IN WEBER. SIT RIVET WHEN MORRISON COMES BACK, PLAY WEBER.

Maybe Lindy is tired of the pansy play style?

WTF is going on with Myers. Last year the guy was taking the puck up the ice it seemed like once a shift this year hardly at all. Is the coaches trying to change his style to more of Chris Pronger type of d-man. He is not effective with what he's doing. I'm not sure if it's the coaches or the players.

Don't get me wrong I will probably agree with you but after awhile the players will tune the coach out of it's the same old shit. It might be that time to make a change.

I didn't watch the game, and judging by these comments I'm glad I missed it.

Myers, Vanek, Grier, Neider, Rivet, Gerbe...etc...have to do SOMETHING. I know most of those players will turn it around, but they have been, dare I say, useless thus far.

Gotta listen to WGR too right now. Paul Hamilton is defending our non producers way too much. Getting major rifts with callers right now. The term "purse swingers" being thrown around a lot.

Would have liked to see a retaliation from the team for hurting pommers or roy....but to no avail.

Gotta calm down.

I'd rather dump the guys that are tuning him out. Who could coach this team?? They don't fucking care!

Sabres didn't really play that badly but they let Hossa get behind the d-man once again and Bolland got behind Rivet.

I think it's because of a lack of heart, which is amplified by an invisible captain. Rivet is not the man anymore. An on-ice leader or impact player would be good. I like Gaustad but he takes games off sometimes. Pominville would be one of the best options, maybe Roy even if I usually don't like his attitude. I was sold on Vanek this summer but forget it. Grier is the guy I respect the most on the team and would be my choice. But I don't think we have many players really qualified for this.

And maybe if we think long term, firing Ruff wouldn't be the best idea. But something has to happen, and this is one of the most attractive options.

Easier said then done when you have a 6million dollar player not even playing close to his potential.

I agree with the "purse-swinging guy" completely. If you're not producing on the score sheet, at least contribute some physicality or emotion or something!

I think Gaustad has a great work ethic but you don't give a Captain to a third line Center. I like the best players being in charge of my team. As of right now the only player really playing well is Roy but I don't think we would make a great captain. This team doesn't look anything like what they played like in preseason. Yes I know it's preseason but Myers looked like himself from last year and since opening day he's not rushing the puck as much, fumbling the puck and doesn't seem like he's moving his feet fast enough when the puck gets behind him. I'm wondering if they are trying to change his style of play and if they are it's not working. He's more physical this year but last year he seemed dominant at times with him rushing up the ice with the puck and pinching in.
I like Ruff but all good coaches get fired sooner or later and this might be that time.

I don't think Myers play has anything to do with the coach. I don't see a coach going to a player and say that he should play that kind of style. That would be nonsense. I really think they're telling him to go out there and play simple without hesitation. I think it's Myers himself who's had a bad game, sees the team struggling and he don't want to make bad plays to make the team lose. I'm pretty sure it's in his head right now, because he looked great in the first game.

But I agree for the captaincy. It has to be an impact player.

How many times this season have you seen Myers carry the puck up the ice compared to last season. It's really easy to see that he's not rushing the puck like he was last year. Believe me he's doesn't look the same as last year. He's more physical this year but the offensive side of the game which is the type of defenseman he is lagging.
