I'd say I'm at about a 4, maybe 3.5.

If they didn't play with the emotion they had last night, I'd be a solid 3. They're showing glimpses of sparks here and there and I think it's right on the cusp of turning around so that has me seeing the glass half full as opposed to empty.

Buffcon4.

Plenty of teams have started the season looking like shit, and plenty crappy teams start off hot before their lack of talent catches up with them.

A few things:

We're not getting blown out of games, even though we haven't been playing well.
Our luck isn't going to stay this bad all year.
Ryan Miller prepares better than any goalie in the game, and he'll have us in the game come third period virtually every single night.
Chances will start to go in.
Myers will settle down.

BUFFCON4, here. Like the guy said. All their losses are one-goal losses. It is a little disconcerting that we can't win one-goal games though. That was a strongpoint of ours last year.

BUFFCON 4, because no matter how bad they're playing right now all that matters is whether they make the playoffs, and how they're playing when they get there.

Either way they are the same semi-contender that will need a very hot streak and/or luck to get to the Stanley Cup finals. Aside from 06-07 it's been that way or worse as long as I've been a Sabres fan, so nothing is different.

Also, I'm not going to get excited about regular season play like I used to since this group of fucktards can win their division and then shit the bed in the first round. Whether they play amazing hockey all season and go into the playoffs as the big favorite or they sneak in on their belly, I'll wait until they actually look respectable in the playoffs again to get all uber fanned out.

.....I will watch every game though and cheer....just with a dose of perspective and context.

I've moved to BUFFCON-Are you serious right now? .

I'm of course not happy with the majority of their play, and obviously not happy with the lack of results.

I am however dumbfounded by the sheer volume of overreaction and rage exhibited by many fans during this poor start.

When I call home and talk to friends back in WNY all I hear is how they are writing off the season. I know it's been five straight losses and we're in the hole big time but you're right, overreactions abound right now.
