Yeah, it's sad really. I can't listen to any sports talk right now, and I'm spending less time here for the same reason. There's always going to overreactions both positively and negatively, but the negative side is just so loud and strong you'd think it was Bills talk.

Mike Schopp made a couple twitter comments this morning that I totally agree with.

Quote:
This morning's Sabres conversation is killing me. More proof people can't separate what they want to be true from what actually is true.

Just hearing that Tim Kennedy provided "an offensive spark" last year has put me over the edge. He scored one goal before November 30.

Sabres 1-4 in one-goal games. Last October 5-1. Games are close. If team's play seems much different it's simply because you want it to be.

Also, last Oct. opponents included NYI x2, ATL, FLA, TB, TOR. ... I blame myself for all this. Sports radio breeds and fosters overreaction.

I was taking mine to be a combination of both Bills and Sabres. After re-reading, I think it's a BUFFCON per team. So Bills = BUFFCON3 and Sabres = BUFFCON4.

I do think it's time to start panicking a little. It's not really that the Sabres have lost 5 in a row, but which 5 they've lost. 4 straight at home to open the season, including the 40th anniversary game against a division rival. Then in Chicago against a team that had dealt Buffalo a major injury on a cheap shot. They not only lost a lead and lost the game, but exacted no revenge and made the Hawks pay neither a physical price nor a price on the scoreboard. Where is the heart?

I'm at Buffcon 2.

SABRES:
BUFFCON4 - Usually just an annoyed state. You turn off the TV following a totally uninspiring effort and get kinda ornery. Your dog notices your mood.

BUFFALO JILLS:
BUFFCON1 - NOONE is safe. “Just move the team” comments are made. You blame ownership, coaching, players, AND the playing surface. You have months until the end of the season but you’re already thinking of NEXT year. BUFFCON1 is a miserable place. The Whiner Line calls you.

The problem with the Bills is that their drafting has been across the board horrible.

Mike Williams - Bust.
J.P. Losman - Bust.
Donte Whitner - would be good...if he had been selected in the third or fourth round.
Marshawn Lynch - Bust.
James Hardy - Bust.
Leodis McKelvin - It's not looking good.
Paul Posluszny - see Whitner, also, hurt all the time.

In all fairness to the whiners, we are in last fucking place in the entire league.

I'm starting to worry about the team, but it is still early. Not saying losing 5 games straight is good in any sport, but they can only go up from here.

Regarding the Bills, I'm at BUFFCON I don't care what they do right now.

Yeah, but when there has only been 6 games played, and 5 points seperates last place to first place, it's not as bleak as it sounds.

Probably my favorite sportswriter did an article the other day about the Sabres and other teams that have started the season with poor records. The year Anaheim won the cup they began the year 1-3-1.
