See I'm the opposite. The charge didn't bother me so much. Even though he hit what's his face high, he also did it from the front, and didn't make contact with the head. I just see it as getting a little hockey-overzealous. The headbutt, to me, suggest intent to injure a bit more and just seems dirtier.

So, he was also fined for the charging hit:

Quote:
Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) -- Sabres winger Patrick Kaleta confirmed he got fined not once, but twice by the NHL. He was fined for launching himself like a missle behind the net against the Devils earning a charging penalty. Later, he tried to head butt Travis Zajac, but missed. Zajac actually got the penalty on the play.

No word on how much the fines were. Kaleta said, "I'd like to say the head butt was unintentional, but it's in the past, it was dealt with, you learn from it and you move on. I have to focus on the task at hand which is practicing tomorrow and getting ready for a big match on Wednesday."

After a long film session Lindy Ruff practiced the team for about 75 minutes working on five on five play and stressing breakouts.

This is a bad decision by the NHL, who should have cracked down on Zajac, who was out to injure Sabres. Kaleta was defending his team.

You don't 'defend your team' by trying to headbutt. Period.

The decision to fine was correct.
