Ummm, when Clarke MacArthur is your leading goal scorer with two games played, you're bound to expect him to disappear really soon.

Kris Versteeg move by Burke was brillant. Versteeg is a very very good player. Are they for real. They are playing better hockey than the Sabres so they could possibly be a sleeper team to make the playoffs. But it's still early.

Oooppppssss. SO much for the winning streak. Leafs are now 4-0-1 after losing in OT to the Isles.

The Leafs, still, are #1 in the league with 9 points! ;)

Clarke MacArthur:
2008-09 Buffalo 71GP, 17G
2009-10 Buf/Atl 81GP, 16G
2010-11 Toronto 5GP, 5G

Lee Stempniak
2008-09 Stl/Tor 75GP, 14G
2009-10 Toronto 62GP, 14G
2009-10 Phoenix 18GP, 14G

See where I'm going here? We know the General's game very well, he's at best a 20+ goal guy on the 1st line...

I don't want to get too much into the psychology here, but.....

When you are the new kid on the block, fresh from the minors, you likely don't feel the same sense of resposability and purpose that you do when hired flat-out as a big-leaguer. Mentally, this is a different MacArthur than played for Buffalo. So I think your assumptions about him are premature.

Stempniak and MacArthur, to name just a couple new Leafs, have come to a team that is rich in history, but have sucked badly for quite a while now. Is there any better scenario to feel like you are a part of a magical turnaround? Never underestimate the power of the underdog, especially when fans are loving you even if you suck! That means a lot less pressure, which makes the seeming turnaround that much more fun to accomplish.

I was watching them play tonight and it really jumps out at you: The Leafs really do suddenly have some solid talent and management.

Will it continue to gel? Will it last?

That's where the part about it only being 5 games comes in.

The only silver lining I can take from this disgusting tear that the Leafs are on is that Clarke MacArthur is leading the way. Yeah ok...let's see how long that'll last.

Someone over at HFBoards who lives in Toronto said that people are starting petitions about the route for the parade.

Macarthur did the same thing for us last season.

Through 6 games he had 4g and 2a. Which put him on pace for about a 54g, 28a season.

Too bad in the next 75 games he had 12g and 17a.

I don't think a 41.7 shooting percentage is sustainable :P
