Anyone else notice we seemed to be shooting right INTO Devils players and sticks ALL GAME yesterday? I'd say for every shot that got through, there were at least 3 that had been shot directly into a Devil. And I'm not saying the puck went 10-20 feet, I'm saying that they shot it AT the Devil 3-4 feet in front of them.

Typical NJD game. They clog lanes, block shots left and right, etc. If you don't adjust your game to that, you get the results you saw last night.

They've been doing the same thing for 15 years.

There were times where we were opening the lanes up, and instead tried to dipsy-do around, and shit just didn't happen.

It's hard to get shots through when a team clogs the middle the whole game.

It must suck pretty hard to be a Devils fan and have to watch that style of play EVERY night. Whenever we play Jersey I have to prepare myself for a complete snoozefest.

I'm just glad I'm not a Devils fan.

I refuse to watch any Sabres/Devils games at all. I wasted enough of my life watching those snoozefests.

ehhh I used to think that, but I hate being scored on SO MUCH, that I would really appreciate and enjoy safe, meticulous hockey. the pretty goals are nice but how often does that happen? once every few games maybe? if you're into that kind of hockey they will deliver 4 out of 5 games.

The Devils defense just highlited what the Sabres are doing wrong. They aren't moving the puck quickly enough or moving their feet hard enough to create open shots. They try low percentage passes and force shots instead of holding the puck and working a cycle until an open lane/shot/teammate occurs. Their d-men are too stationary around the blueline and they and the forwards aren't quick/decisive enough with the puck.

The Devils defense is incapable of highlighting anything. They're boring as HELL.

Watching the Devils is better than watching the net wide open for Sabres to shoot the puck into and they miss. Both are boring.

What I'm seeing this season (well fuck, for the last few seasons) is a team who one period comes out and gets tape to tape passes one after the other like clockwork...thhen comes out the next period and can't connect for shit. It really bothers me that they can't be more consistent and makes me wonder whhat the deal is.

Boston did the exact same thing in last night's game versus Washington.

Plus Thomas played out of his mind, but they clogged the center of the ice in front of the net. They had a 6-on-4 in the last 2 minutes and only like 1 or 2 shots got through because of how badly they clogged the middle of the ice.

Ugh I hate the trap. Let's make hockey boring. One play style at a time!

Clogging the middle doesn't work so well when your opponent can cycle the puck and play dump and chase well. It's not the death of hockey as we know it.
