The underlying point is that Vanek and Ryan are similar players in terms of production. People have a boner for him because of the Olympics. How he played there is not how he plays every night.

That is true, had he not dicked around and waited to sign Briere, Drury, and Vanek. None of this would have happened.

Vanek gets 5-6 million and we retain one of Briere and Drury still.
