I'm quite curious to see how Rivet responds (via his play) to being benched.

I see two options:
1) He plays motherfucking BALLS TO THE WALL. We've never seen such an amazing, energetic, willful game from him, we all get so wet the sand drains out of our collective vaginas, and we once again see why he was named captain.

2) His psyche was irreparably assaulted by being benched, he's a shadow of his former self (so...basically the same we've seen from him this year) and it doesnt look like he has any fight left in him whatsoever.

I suppose there is a third, more possible option of somewhere in between those, but given these two options, which do you think he'll be closest to upon his return?

SATW...I believe this is when you come in and suggest I try homo lovin, aka, 'the poll'.

I think he'll respond well. I think his psyche is strong enough to battle though tough times like this. He's been around the league long enough to know how to respond to a benching. Even though things have been bad for Rivet and the rest of the team, he is still our captain and I think will work hard to turn things around. Now we have to wait and see if Rivet's best is good enough. He's at the end of his career, and maybe right now this is all we are going to get out of him. Who knows.

Rivet will respond by eating a cased of "tasty-cakes".

That is all!

I want to say 1, but I think it'll be 3. At this point, I'll gladly take 3

First off, that is the oddest descriotion I have read on this board. Somebody needs to get laid. And for the record, I do not have a vagina, although many of my friends are vaginas.

Second, I seriously doubt that Rivet hasn't already been giving his all. He's an experienced player who fully understanding the situation he's in, so I don't believe motivation is an issue for him. But age is.

It's just the reality of nature's course as it pertains to pro athletes.

He knows it. Everybody knows it. Sad? Yes, but no shame.

I think Rivet's just about at the end of his rope at this point. This has been an ongoing problem since last year, injury or no injury.

I think he will stand at center ice and just glare at Lindy Ruff, unwavering. Then, he will put on lipstick and sing Australia's national anthem.

Before you make a poll you have to beat spocks unbeatable test, be the first to go towards the rabbit on monty python's holy grail and find carmen sandiego.

Rivet can only respond to the benching by playing better and leading by example. His real test, if he plays next time, will be Wednesday against the Bruins.

Do you think he'll be playing?

That is Ruff's decision. Ruff decides who can perform currently and who plays best against the Bruins.

My personal opinion thinks Rivet will play by showing up to perform and leading the team.

I expect Rivet to do the first faceoff of the game and hall off and smash the opposing Bruin in the head with his stick Briere-style. Then Chara will huff & puff and blowwwww him through the zamboni entrance.

Hel-lo retirement.

He then spends said retirement sitting in the 3rd row at Bandits games heckling the top players for needing to work at Target to supplement their income.

What a dick.

If we need a defenseman later on, we are only a phone call away to Anaheim, and we're not speaking Lydman. Rob Niedermayer could entice older brother Scott to come back and win a fifth Stanley Cup championship.

It is not the first time it has happened. Scott rejoined the Ducks halfway into the season a year or so ago.

You may have convinced me to begin growing my playoff beard now. By June, I could have a nice long beard that could decorate the top of Lord Stanley's Cup.

That would indeed be fucking sweet if we could get Scott here. Give him the C, nuff said. I mean, I don't see it ever happening but it is fun to think about.
