Ryan Miller has missed one game with a tight knee and even though he's improving, he could miss Friday against Montreal too. Miller decided it was time to get his knee feeling better because he's been feeling discomfort since September, "It's something where I want to feel comfortable because it’s basically been since training camp, a guy falls on your knee and you're playing and you're not entirely comfortable and I don't want to do that all year. I want to get it back to where it's feeling good."

Check back later for more from Ryan Miller. I'll be posting Patrick Lalime's feelings on being skipped for the start against Boston too.

Miller's knee has been hurt since September. Could this be why he's been sub-par for most of the season so far? Maybe once his knee is 100% he'll be back to his old self again. He's shown flashes of his last year brilliance some games, while most of the time he's been inconsistent. It makes sense because he was probably trying to take it easy and wasn't making certain saves to prevent himself from injuring it further. I'm glad that he's sitting out now to ensure that it doesn't get worse.

It's kind of funny because my knees were real sore yesterday and I thought, "Maybe Miller has an injured knee!" I'm so ~smart~, I know.

Goddamn it. I would have rather him sat out for a couple games early in the season than play up until this point, risking making it worse.

Phil, I merged your thread into this one since we've just been updating Miller's status in this thread from the beginning.

Yeah, I'm glad that he decided it was time to get it treated. I try to trust athlete's judgements because they know their bodies better than anyone else, but at the same time they are competitors and all they want to do is play. So they have to keep that in check sometimes. I'm just glad that Miller is now making sure that his knee is 100% before he plays again, because we obviously need him to play at 100%, and god only knows how bad it could have been if he had seriously injured it while playing.

Miller, you idiot. Could be fully healed by now. It probably wouldn't make a difference at all as to what the team's record is right now, and they'd be able to start moving up in the standings with Miller at 100%, maybe.

Please just play Friday for when I go to the game, then take a week off.

I don't care about games in hand, because it doesn't matter, they go by the point totals in this league.

Because at the end of the 82 games, everyone has the same amount of games played.

Huh?

Games-in-hand is a pretty important variable in understanding the current rankings.

If you're THREE points behind a team, but have two or three game-in-hand, then the situation isn't as bad as the rankings may make it seem. Conversely, if you have the three point lead, but have also played a few more games than the team behind you, then you're not as well off in reality as the rankings indicate.

It's all about understanding exactly where a team actually is in the conference/league. Taking the standings at face value doesn't necessarily tell you that.

And yes, all teams have to play 82 games. THAT'S THE POINT! If a team is in 8th place, but has played a few more games than the teams right behind them in the standings, guess what? Those teams on their heels have a chance to make up ground on you, since you have less games to play.

Meh...it's not like he's the reason the team has sucked.

Stupid move playing on a bum knee though...perhaps he felt obligated to try to fight through it because the team got off to such a bad start?

True but he could have stole a few of the home games and the Sabres would be in last.

Ok, so Miller has finally admitted to being hurt. I get that he wanted to play to try to help the team get though this shitty start, but one has to wonder if by him doing so, not only has he kept himself hurt, but he's also contributed to the skid we're on atm. Not saying it's all on him, but he should shoulder some of the blame.

Now, Ruff.... Smarten the fuck up! Keep Enroth on the bench and get Lalime in the net tomorrow night!@! I hope he doesn’t try to “Spark” the team again against the Habs… :?

I wouldn't doubt it that he felt the burden of carrying the team, and it cost them.

Good leaders do such things. Great leaders know when they're doing more harm than good and shut it down.

egghhh...an 80% Ryan Miller is still better than the other options...I don't think he hurt the team.

Yeah, but you don't want that 80% Miller hurting himself further where the sore knee would end up being much more serious than that.

and all that volunteer groin work of yours goes down the drain Caro ;)

It was the knee all along!

/I don't have any innuendo jokes that revolve around knees unfortunately.

A-thank you...

And now I look like less of a jackass for saying something looked wrong with Miller since game three. Hooray?

At least there's an explanation for things and he wasn't just sucking.
