So according to an article on WGR550's website Lindy was at a Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame induction tonight where he presented a speech during which he made one HELL of a bold statement. One in which I'm sure all Sabres fans will hold on him at the end of the season.

“When things are tough it’s when the true character has got to come out,” Ruff said, “we are a playoff team, we will make the playoffs.”

A pretty ballsy move to come out and say this considering the start of the season. If he's going to follow through with the statement, he better light a massive fire under all their asses... and FAST!

As a practical matter, they're only 5 points out of 8th. However, the way they're playing can't give anyone hope that they can close that gap anytime soon.

I'm interested to see how the players react to this.

Making up 5 points out of 69 games isn't too tall a task. I'm not confident that they'll do it unless they turn a lot of things around though. They look like a last place team that deserves to be where they are in the standings.

The season can go on into the playoffs if you want to win and change things around. Decide which way you want to go with your play."
