now where does a team go from here if they play decent enough to win and still can't win?
No offense, but this is a really big pet peeve of mine when it comes to post-game assessments.
It is my belief that if a team didn't win, then they really didn't play well enough to win. Did they play better than they've been playing? Sure. Good enough to win? Nope.
It reminds me of what I've heard Jeremy White on WGR say one too many times when the Sabres didn't make the playoffs: "They're good enough to make the playoffs, they just didn't make the playoffs."
The great thing about sports, is that it is pretty black and white where wins and losses are concerned: You either win or lose. The score is pivotal in determining this.
No hand-wringing required. This team has needed a solid core for 4 seasons now. Until they do something about that, this sub-championship quality play will continue indefinitely.
