They won. Thankfully.

:)

Great goal at the end of regulation to tie it. Ennis's SO goal was sweet. Maybe they can build off this. All it takes is a game like this to light a fire. Lets cross our fingers. LOL.

I just wish the next game was on Monday. I'm scared the 3 days off will kill our buzz.

Oh well, it was great seeing the boys get into it, albeit the final 20 seconds of the 3rd + OT...

this is my writeup of the shootout from my blog if anyone wants to read. I had more about the rest of the game, but I won't bore anyone. :P

Quote:
Lindy Ruff picked Thomas Vanek and Derek Roy to go in the shootout and then spun in circles and had his finger land on Jason Pominville. Now Pominville usually isn't a bad choice for the shootout, but everyone in Buffalo was calling 63's number. Pominville didn't score, Vanek did, Roy didn't, and then something beautiful happened. The Maple Leafs fans made Tim Connolly feel right at home by BOOING THE CRAP OUT OF HIM.

Image

This was a bad choice. Confused that he didn't have three guys to try and skate through, Connolly instead attempted a drop pass at the top of the faceoff circles. Then Tyler Ennis came up and Leafs fans started heading for the exits. We all know the rest, but I'm going to tell it to you anyways. Tyler Ennis came in, completed a voodoo deke that left J.S. Giguere so out of position he was back in Anaheim watching a Jonas with a different spelling totally outplay him. With nothing to lose, Giguere put a stick into Ennis' legs so that the game winning goal looked at least ten times cooler.

I don't think he's been online yet, but he did start ones where we won. He's done every game last I knew.

Thank you burner087 for starting the post game thread. Its greatly appreciated.

SORRY FOLKS, but I turn the big 40 on Wed. and this evening my wife took me out.
Phil, thanks for the info, she took me to Buffalo BrewPub? Or something along that name on Main and Transit.

Oh folks, what a time I had. Happy pre 40th to slesh, happy birthday to me. And Ennis gave me a pre B-Day gift I have longed for since the start of the season.

I sat next to a couple from Toronto who so wanted thier team to win, and I kept warning them about Ennis. Man, what a come through moment from this kid for me.

WAY TO GO BUFFALO!!!!!!

But lets not get to excited folks. After all, this was the Leafs, and we still have major problems with our roster.

But, in all fairness, they won a game, good for them, great for US FANS!!!

Transition was still way to slow, Enroth looked much, much better.
Puck control was the same, but atleast I saw some battles being won down low for the puck.

Good win tonight, need improvement to move forward.

P.S. On a side note, where in the hell is Vanek? Show up on the score sheet please.

That was awesome...and a HUGE game for Enroth to win his first NHL game, in a shootout no less. Congratulations to him. It's nice to see the Sabres finally put out a win. They just need to keep building off the positives and keep going up from here. Tonight was a real solid effort and they didn't quit, and they were finally rewarded for it.

I love the Brewpub. I would've suggested it if you didn't mention sports bars haha. Was the floor littered with peanut shells by the end of the game? Last time I was there, it was me, rbochan, and 30yearfan drinking until the wee hours. One of us was so drunk he didn't remember even getting to the rounds of tequila haha. It was 65 degrees in the middle of December. It was so awesome.

Peanut shells were the floor of the day Phil, and thanks man, I had a fantastic time. The game was awsome, the crowd at the bar was into to it and it was a wonderful night for me from my wife.

I'd post a pic of her and I, but everytime I try, it tells me the pic is to big.

Yeah that was a great game! The team was so happy for Hecht when he scored, it was awesome! :)

And yeah, Ennis has insane hands, that goal was sick.

Montador is playing the best hockey of his entire life!

Myers still looks a step slow, or he's losing an edge, or he's thinking a play late, or he's just having bad luck. Not a terrible game by any stretch of the imagination, but still, Myers is even better. Having said that, he would be one of my goto guys in the shootout.

Enroth is lucky that they didn't all test his leg length in that shootout, he played great though!

I was going to post something about demoting Connolly after the loss to the Habs, apparently great minds think alike.

Roy's goal was great too!

Did you see Lalime after they won, he was damn near jumping up and down on the ice. That guy has a great attitude for being a backup to a rookie goalie from the AHL.

He appeared in the shootout, but has been invisible in regulation lately. The dimwit went 0-for-6 on goal Friday against Montréal. I would make him a healthy scratch dishonorably, but Stafford took care of that playing Tarzan.
